How lenient has BMW been with tires on lease-end these days?

Coming up on lease-end and need to replace all 4 tires. My understanding/approach over the years has always been that they need to have acceptable tread depth, same speed rating (or greater?), same load index, same size, and be run-flat if they were already (current ones are not).

Or perhaps a better question than my topic title would be, has anything changed for the worse the last 3 years? If I have a space-saver spare, I assume they wouldn’t have to match that in any way, no?

Here are the OEM tires:

Here is what I’m considering replacing them with (cheaper than used currently):

The concerns I have are that they have a higher/better speed grade, worse max PSI, and are not a ‘nicer’ brand. Those factors shouldn’t matter in the slightest, no?

The second set is cheaper than used?

They’re still sticklers on the tires, can confirm.

Get used approved tires, don’t put random tires.

For 4 tires that match, yes. Have been checking Utires regularly and haven’t found anything cheaper.

Plenty of data points saying BMW will come at you for mismatched tires, though it seems to be 50/50 on how well different tires on front vs. rear passes.

Had not heard of Champ Tires actually, so thank you for sharing.

I assure you it’s not 50/50, same speed rating, run flat or not, and to avoid everything I’d try to match brands and models all around.

No prob, that’s what the forum is for, sharing info to be used accurately.

Oh I’m in agreement. I wouldn’t (haven’t) chance two separate brands/models on front vs. rear even if they met the right criteria. I have just seen anecdotes where others have had it pass.

I think my concern these days is if they aren’t known approved brands such as Pirelli/Bridgestone/Continental/Hankook/Michelin, is whether BMW will raise a stink about it.

I’d just be leery of this when buying take-offs.

No worries on those, just have to pavement that flat spot when you park it so they can’t see it when you ground it. :face_with_peeking_eye:

Ebay has used tires too, just make sure theyre rfts. Last turn in dealer told me axles had to match, but front and rear didn’t, not sure if thats changed.

what if you’re leasing another BMW?

i have 4/32" left on my fronts, and depending on where/how you read the rears, 4/32" or 3/32"…but i’m getting another bmw

The dealer can roll the cost of new tires into your new BMW.

thanks! appreciate the quick response
