How do you get to the Internet Sales Manager?

My deal on an EV6 has fallen through due to dealer bs and changing the deal at signing so I’m back to square one.

Now considering other options such as lyric, mach e, etc

How does one bypass the sales floor and deal via internet? I have tried the chatbot on websites and that just seems to get a call from the receptionist or other qualifier to “set an appt to come in” etc. I have also tried emailing the sales dept but that doesn’t seem to get far either. Sometimes a salesman will call.

Is there a back door to a decision maker online or phone that will lead to better deals?

What is the best strategy? What have you had luck with?

Thanks

Go to the About section of the dealership and find the names of the GM or sales managers. Note that some dealerships are starting to scrub/remove this information from their site. In that case, you may have to reach out by phone (or worse in person) to build rapport and mention you will share your numbers or something that effect by email.

I have only had luck with this one time. I called and ask to speak to the salesmanager. I gave them my offer and they laughed at me. They called me back 2 minutes later, almost matching my offer. I reached out to another dealership’s manager and we got to play a little game of out doing one another’s price.

But when I most recently tried calling to talk to the manager, they handed me off to a salesperson, who tried selling me some car that I was not at all interested in.

Good luck out there!

Search the forum for how to negotiate

When you know exactly what you’re offering on a specific model, you are in control of the situation. You can’t “need” a car in your interactions. You are making an offer and are completely fine without getting the car.

If emails are unavailable as described in comments above, I use the “contact us” option to say “I’d like to make an offer on X stock number. Please provide an email address where I can send my offer.” 9/10 times they send an email and that offer is certainly getting reviewed by a manager. If anyone calls I politely say I’m not interested in having detailed phone discussions, my offer has all detail required to accept or deny the deal.

I’ve done about 15 cars this year and the conversations only happen after they’ve reviewed my offer, if at all. Many are a few emails at most. Offer, near counter, final offer, final counter. Many have agreed straight away to fantastic discounts and there’s no back and forth.

Go to dealer website. Get the name of an SM. Call them directly. Speak in a crisp voice that exudes confidence. Tell them you’d like to send them a one-page lease proposal like the one below and that you want to get a deal done ASAP.

All numbers should be accurate otherwise, you’ll lose credibility. Negotiate via phone/email. Once an agreement is reached, ask the dealer for a review copy of the lease agreement and all contract addenda BEFORE you go to the dealer and sign. Moreover, it’s helpful to know the terms and conditions of the lease contract such as early termination liability criteria and purchase option criteria as well as lease amortization methodology and excess wear/tear criteria. If all is as agreed, tell the SM that you’ll come in to sign asap. You don’t want any surprises or dealer excuses like …. Oh, we made a mistake. That’s unacceptable and shouldn’t be tolerated.

If the dealer isn’t transparent or is uncooperative or showing signs of incompetence, WALK AWAY AND MOVE ON!

Leasing is time-consuming and requires a good deal of study and attention to detail. If you don’t have the time to commit, perhaps your best alternative is a good broker. There are some outstanding brokers on this website. However, if you’re willing to commit your time and resources, always control the deal. That can only be achieved with education which breeds confidence and increases the likelihood of success.

Thanks for the tips

I know how to negotiate but mostly have done it face to face. This will be an extra vehicle so walking away is not an issue and I have no timeline required. Im walking on the BS that the EV6 dealer pulled and i was going to buy 2 cars from him.

Mostly looking for tips on how to get past the gatekeepers to the decision makers. I figure if they dont have to involve or can reduce a salesman commission it might be more likely to be a better deal.

Love this form —

Would you be willing to share it as a word excel or pdf that could be edited?

Thanks Again

Im walking on the BS that the EV6 dealer pulled

Could you elaborate?

Great information thanks.

It’s such a pain to find a dealer who can jump to this discussion especially in Michigan.

I am not finding any Broker either who can help me here on Prologue or ZDX deal. Keeping :crossed_fingers: to find one who can help me.

Basically after the finance guy called and confirmed my numbers — later the sales mgr called me to say there was a mistake — when he sent new paperwork to detail changes there was 625$ in new fees and and extra 1200 in taxes that i know for fact don’t belong. Mind you I insisted on having the taxes confirmed be finance twice before agreement. Car is 4 hours away so I’m walking on it. Bad ethics I don’t tolerate and my word is good after a deal is agreed upon. Too bad since a friend was jumping in on the deal and we were getting two. Feel a little bad for the salesman who just lost 2 very easy commissions.

I’ve not been able to find emails online at most dealerships locally in DFW. So I call the dealership and ask for new sales and when someone picks up, I ask for the internet sales manager. When I’m connected to that person, I ask for their email and say I’ll be emailing them an offer shortly. Sometimes, that manager isn’t in and in that case, the person on the other end is usually able to provide an email.

What is your target deal for each one?

Bypassing the salesperson and talking directly to a GM is useless unless you have all your ducks in a row

I have this in an excel to submit via email.

It’s not a one size fits all or a round peg, round hole. There are many ways to structure a lease. You’re certainly welcome to use the posted format which was created in Word. Hwever, your proposal may be totally different than mine.

no problem I created one in excel that is more specific to texas and our stupid sales tax situation. thx again for the idea!!!

I’m guessing this is a Lyric. What are the $7,000 in rebates you qualify for?

yes – a lyric 2024

conquest 3000
loaner 2500
costco 1000
credit card 500

maybe im being unreasonable – idk but starting somewhere and it appears others are doing similar.

You’ll want more discount on a loaner to compensate for miles because GMF starts the lease at whatever is on the odo

9k on the odo, for example, means a 24m/12k lease only gets 15k total miles. It basically becomes a 7,500 mile per year lease.

Shouldn’t Lyriq have sales tax credit in Texas?
