How can I find out what incentives/rebates can TRULY be stacked?

Hi there,

I’m in Michigan, and I’ve been looking around and pricing out Dodge Chargers with several different dealerships. I sort of lucked out (I think?) and got a random email the other day from True Car with a $1,000 cash back code that said I can use at any CDJR dealership. I also have a Friends & Family Discount code. So here’s where I’m getting confused. I’ve been leasing from CDJR for the last 8+ years so I know I have lease loyalty, and returning lessee.

Now, one dealership quoted my lease with F&F and the True Car incentive. She told me it wasn’t a conflict to combine the two (but did tell me that I couldn’t combine Friends and Family with the Costco discount I was trying to get, lol… I’m greedy what can I say?). These are the exact incentives (verbatim from her email) that she quoted me with:
$1750 in lease Bonus cash
$900 in Great Lakes Bonus Cash
$1000 lease loyalty
$1000 True Car Discount
Friends and Family $1352
Added up, this comes out to $6,002 in rebates

Just this morning a Charger was listed locally for lease and for me, it was the “stop what you’re doing and go get it NOW” type of feeling.
Got in touch with the dealership first thing, got ahead of the “game playing” that they do and said EXACTLY what I wanted, and what I knew they were going to ask me. “I want X due at signing, I want 36 months, I want 12K a year, yes I have another Chrysler lease in my household. I qualify for the following incentives: ____, ____, ____”

The guy gets back to me and tells me the Friends and Family Discount can’t be combined with the True Car discount and I’m a bit annoyed. He only quoted my price with F&F, Lease Loyalty, and Returning Lessee. Can dealerships make their own rules about which incentives can’t be stacked? Is there somewhere online I can go to see ALL possible incentives and which ones conflict with each other, etc? Obviously, when you’re doing the online pricing and it lists the incentives, the True Car isn’t on there for the general public to check off, so I’m really trying to find out if this guy is trying to pull a fast one on me?

Can anybody give me any guidance on how to proceed?

TrueCar incentive isn’t an ‘incentive’. It’s the dealer agreeing to a certain $$$ figure off.

F&F on the other hand makes the dealer sell it at Invoice and some $$$ off that number. (Which the dealer gets back from Stellantis)

So yes, they can do this because TrueCar is a dealer supplied discount.

Now the better question is TrueCar better than F&F? Because F&F doesn’t mean you get the best ‘starter price’.

Okay, understood. I’ve had a few other dealerships quote me with the TC and F&F and never had any problems. Thanks for clearing that up.

With regard to the F&F, on paper it’s more than the TC discount… but I’m not sure if that’s really the case?

FF is just a bit higher, so no - but you mentioned about F&F not always being the best “starter price” so thought I’d show you how they stacked the numbers up. Thanks

Yes I had F&F for Kia, and it was -$1000 - $500 = $1500 (Plus incentives), but the dealer offered $2500 off the car (plus incentives) instead so I went with that.

Ah, okay. Here in MI there’s zero wiggle room on any of the prices unfortunately, although I do try. So, just trying to get the best possible deal and not afraid to question everything that’s put in front of me :slight_smile:

It’s not just Michigan, it’s everywhere right now. Low stock means people pay $$$
