So there been many times where the overall dealer experience has been completely horrible, and yet I would bite my tongue and eat it all day if I was getting the deal I needed. That is not to say that this was also predicated on a good service department and a local dealer so you will put up with more, but a situation where the negotiation and leasing/buying experience is so awful that service and proximity are not a factor and you would bail regardless.
I recently had an experience where the top of the pyramid management at the location was a straight-up liar, was called out on those lies, then doubled down on the lies. The lies were not inconsequential and easily verified to be completely untrue. Ramped to ghosting, but with some random stalker calls and CRM emails at that same time. This type of behavior went on for some time but the spec was spot on and the price could have been right as well so it was worth putting up with the nonsense….for a while.
Final straw was the dire warning of the “price increases across the board” that would be hitting soon but were pure BS as shown when the listed prices actually went down or stayed the same.
Without naming names of employees, dealers or locations, what did it take for you to bail on principle, outrage and frustration alone?
