I am disappointed. I loved the VTEC on my type S…
I’m not sure how the purists will feel about axing the VTEC.
Also, OP’s name checks out.
at least the 4 cylinders still have VTEC, my TL type S was one of the best cars I have ever driven
Will they still sell VTEC decals to put on the rocker panel?
Yes, right next to the Mugen Power sticker. 無限
Let’s not glorify fanbois.
Ha! I was trying to be nice.
I want nothing to do with anything of it, vtec or not.
The big V stands for V-tec
nice or rice?
Who cares about VTEC on a pilot? Did anyone actually wind this car out around corners?
I think more about the VTEC being eliminated than pilot. It’s just going to go down the line up soon.
I suppose it’s purpose-driven, right? Being DOHC doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t have VTEC… VTEC is just Hondas way of adjusting can profiles on either SOHC or DOHC engines.
I imagine VTEC to remain on performance minded cars and future generations of their dream engines for pedestrian duty to be emissions and fuel economy focused.
But seems like the “performance minded” models are few & far in-between…
VTEC just kicked in, yo.
Yes, most people aren’t looking for enthusiast performance cars. Those with deep pockets are buying different cars.
Yes. But I’m certainly the exception. I’ve also wound out the wife’s minivans.
There are always exceptions. Just looking at it from the manufacturers perspective.
I had an Accord once (2003 V6). I did wind it out once, and when the cam shaft profiles changed over (or whatever the heck it’s called), I was like, “Wow… that was incredibly crude and disruptive and not particularly pleasant.”
I get why fanbois are upset, but the loss gets a big shrug from me, personally.
The reduction in pollutants, though… It’s a great reason for Honda to make the change.
