Honda Pre-Inspection 12 months out?

At the end of 2020 I leased a brand new 2021 Honda HR-V LX for $210/mo (including tax), no money down, 12k miles/year. Today’s purchase price would be $15,607.
It was a pretty awesome deal at the time as I needed a new car and it was the perfect size for me.

Today I received an email from the dealer asking to set up a pre-inspection as my lease is 12 months out. I suspect they are just trying to get me in the door to either buy out the lease or upgrade.

I don’t want to necessarily keep this car and now I am in a better financial position to get a new car. (looking for a hybrid SUV maybe?)
My question is… should I schedule an appointment with them to see what they will offer me? I was also considering going to a local credit union and seeing what kind of rate I could get for buying out my lease + selling on my own. I just know the dealer doesn’t have my best interest in mind and they just want to make a sale. Of course I can also wait until later next year, but I figured end of the year is a good time to buy/lease.

Probably triggered by the prior lease, but either way you are being marketed-to. Get your lease pre-return inspection 60 days out, recycle or shred the rest.

An ‘inspection’ over 90 days out is basically a useless inspection. (You would need another one). It’s just a marketing tool to get you in the door.

If you want to sell it, sell it (get some comps from the usual places), and sell it. They are counting on using your equity to blindside you into another bad lease or sale.

Only if your time is worth $0.00 per hour.

If you want to upgrade, you’ll need a game plan.
