2025 Honda CRV LX AWD

How is this deal.

I missed out on a great deal out of state on a 2024, but negotiated this one.

How is this deal before I pull the trigger?

There are cars you lease and then there are cars you buy. CRV is the latter.

Why is it one you buy?

Have you researched MF and RV on these? Plus owned Hondas keep value well down the road.

Assuming the sale price is around $32k, you’ll have paid $16k at the end of 3 years for a car holds its value very well. This makes it bad deal IMO.

If you want a lease, you should check Marketplace to see which vehicles are leasing well right now.

If you want a vehicle similar to CRV, Rav4 Prime from @Jrouleau426 is a good option. You can do an immediate buyout after lease to get all the discounts. And, you will have an equity in your hand when you pay the car off. See thread for details.

Deep liquid market if you need to resell (everybody is always looking for CR-Vs), high retained value, and honestly, for the core purpose of this car, the CR-V is pretty evolutionary over time vs. revolutionary, so the marginal utility of constantly getting new CR-Vs every 24-36 months is not particularly high.

Reasonable reliability record also suggests there might not be a huge need to dump CR-Vs at the end of the warranty period like with some other cars…

Because their lease programs are terrible while ownership costs (depreciation, maintenance, extended warranty if desired, etc) are relatively low.

Easily $10,000+ difference in owning for 5-6yr cycles vs consecutive leases.

Now for some people that’s chump change but those people are buying Bentley Bentaygas for cash brand new

Hi are you saying if someone has an amazing lease to lease loyalty incentive they can sign a lease then do a buyout right away to own it cheap?

What do you mean by an 'amazing lease to lease loyalty incentive"? You can always sign a new lease and then buy it out almost immediately. You get to pay the Lease acquisition fee upfront and then taxes, tags, license and registration fees all over again when you do the buy out. THe extra costs will probably eat up most of the lease incentive. There is a reason manufacturers offer lease loyalty incentives. It is a cheap way to keep existing customers on the lease treadmill.

I wouldn’t go for the LX, though.

I had a 2022 EX and, although a great car, it felt a little too basic/cheap for something over 30k.
