I have a 2018 Honda Civic EX with another 12 months on the lease. The dealer contacted me yesterday and asked me to bring it in for a complimentary vehicle inspection that will include an equity analysis and the option to turn the vehicle in early.
The lease was for 12k miles/year
The car only has 16800 miles.
We like the civic, the only thing we’d be interested in is having a lower monthly payment, without any money up front.
The car is in mint condition. Do I have any negotiating power?
Highly unlikely that given the state of the market right now that your used civic is worth more than the lease payoff. This is just a scheme to roll you in to a new car and get more money out of your pocket.
12 months is pretty early. There is 1k in loyalty cash, an additional $500 lease cash, and really strong MF on Civics .00041. With all that being said 12 months early is a stretch and with matched terms previously (miles, money down, same taxes) you will probably have a higher payment.
Looks like a canned email. Different terms but the goal is just to get you in the dealership.
Probably should wait… most makers are extending the leases to avoid taking the inventory pile up. So highly unlikely you’ll get market value for the car.
