Looking for windows and doors for my house. I like high end, almost the best, but as most of use here, not paying for it. All my furniture is from Design within Reach, but I buy it at the outlet. Took 5 years to find the couch I wanted while waited for the one I wanted at what ended up being 60% off. When shopping at Costco, I only buy .97 for anything that’s not perishable.
Basically, can anyone help on what brands are where for windows and doors? I’m looking for the BMW, Mercedes, type brand, not the Ferrari, Bentley brands.
In one thread Marvin was mentioned. How’s Milgard? TM Cobb. Looking for something that will hopefully never need to be replaced. The type that might not add value to the house but would help it sell faster.
ThermaTru makes very good exterior doors. Marvin, Pella, and Milgard are all solid window choices. If you live at a high elevation, take a look at Alpen windows.
i was shopping exterior doors earlier this year for our house. first off, get ready to be blown away by how expensive they are!
second, up and down with the 4 different companies i talked to, they all said that PlastPro made the best doors and that ThermaTru wasn’t as good. They said don’t go with Home Depot or Lowes because they would screw up the installation and you’d never be able to get it fixed. the online reviews for their door services are horrendous.
Some windows and doors are made to last a long time and cost less, while others are more fancy and custom if you want a special look. You can also check online groups to see what people recommend.
