High Milage leases SUVs

,

Are there certain SUV makes and models which are known for having good lease programs for 18K miles a year and more?
I am currently driving about 21K mikes a year. I am thinking of going with a 18K a year lease. Even though it’s less than what I am driving, my thinking is i’ll take advantage of the pull ahead and i’ll be at my allotted mileage or possibly only over a little

I think the best approach for a high mileage lease is to acquire the lease through a transfer where the original owner is significantly under mileage. Kinda tough to find so you can’t be very picky about the vehicle. Otherwise, you are looking for vehicles that have high residual values. This would limit the impact of devaluation which occurs as a result of the extra miles.

Any certain makes and/or models know for having good residuals?

All captives will allow you to lease an 18k program. The only one (I think) that has an 18k residual is Ford. The majority of them will require you to pay the extra 3k per year as a mileage cost at x/mile.

Volvo allows up to 20K

Maybe that’s who I was thinking of

Ford also does 20.5k. Honda pre-purchase mileage is $0.10.

This is a recipe for a disaster: round up, not down.

Exactly. I can already see the next post: XYZ automaker isn’t offering pull ahead right now. I’m 9000 miles over and have $7500 in negative equity. What do I do?

That’s pretty much the situation I am in right now. Leased a lexus gx at 15K miles a year and currently 9K miles over. Lease does not end till Oct 1st.
however, i do have the pull ahead option as lexus will Waive 4 months of payments if lease another lexus. Looking the Rx

Is this daily driving that is racking up the miles or a few long trips per year? If it’s long trips have you thought about renting something on those weeks?

Daily driving…all from my job which is sales. I want to find a cost effective lease but at the same time want a nice SUV since I drive it so much.
Considering the Acura MDX, Volvo XC90 and Lexus Rx350L

I leased the qx60 luxe December '18 with 25k per year. Got VPP from reading thru the posts here. zero up front except the 3 MSD’s payment at 503 including tire and dent insurance. Before this car I had a Lincoln with 18.5k per year. Always take what you think you will need or more never less.

What’s VPP? Sorry i’m new here. Why take more than less ? if i dont use the miles then I would have overpaid?

Because generally the cost per mile is significantly less if it’s part of the lease up front vs if you pay the over mileage penalty at the end.

I can get you a good deal on a 4Runner with 21k miles also if interested.

Does anyone else besides Acura do mile forgiveness ? According to their website, they will waive half of your overage miles (up to 15K miles ) if you lease another Acura.

Does anyone else besides BMW allow you to purchase additional miles throughout the lease ? according to their website you can purchase additional miles at 16 cents a mile

I believe that just Honda/Acura has the constant mileage forgiveness and rollover program.

GMF occasionally will forgive up to $500 in miles, but it’s off and on.

BMW miles are $0.23 AFAIK. $0.16 might be the prepay. Most Honda/Acura models are only $0.10 per mile if you buy them at the time of signing.

What’s the purpose of the question? Leasing over 15k?

Yes was going to go with 18K a year lease. Up until coronavirus I was doing about 21K a year. i am in sales. Lexus GX lease ends in Oct. I am bout 10K over.

I think acura might make most sense for me I can do 15K lease. With a pull ahead and mile forgiveness hopefully I would just be a little over if anything
