Helping Parents Locate Low-Mileage SUV Lease in PA

,

This forum helped me locate a good lease deal a bit ago and was hoping you guys could help me help my parents. They are at lease-end on their 2022 Explorer. Both my mother and father have encountered some medical issues over the last few years that has impacted them financially and their driving abilities. They can drive, but very limited. The FORD dealer they leased their Explorer from is dangling some ridiculous options in front of them that they (thankfully) said no to (i.e. 48 month lease on a $29k Bronco Sport for $500/month). Their 2022 Explorer only has/had 5k miles on it for a 3-year lease. :frowning: It’s a great SUV they loved, but a couple strokes really impacted them both.

Anyhow, to my question. They are in the market for another SUV, 4-door. Does not need to be 3-row like the Explorer. It can be smaller. I can help them out a bit financially, if need be. Located in PA. Is there ANY possibility of getting them into a super low mileage lease (7,500) for under $400/month? At this point, they will consider anything as long as it’s a SUV.

I appreciate all your help.

Are they opened to electrified options? either PHEV or EV? When you say they can go smaller, what is the smallest sized SUV they are open to?

Blazer EV should be doable

If this is their usage going forward they’re better off buying a Toyota, Honda or H/K product and benefiting from the resale value + low mileage

Yes they are not familiar with those options but i can say yes, they are open to those options!

As far as size, probably no smaller than that of an Escape type size, but again if options are limited, they will be open to explore options

Thank you !

Nissan does 5000 miles leases. Either an Ariya or a Rogue would probably work in your budget. Can recommend a PA dealer if interested. I would also look into the private marketplace for a lease transfer; you could find a good deal from someone who is over mileage.

I convinced my senior parents once they got into their 70s why leasing made more sense- always have latest tech, full warranty, loaners, no worry about tires, brakes, maintenance- except for oil changes on the ICE cars.

My mom’s Q5 is due at end of the Jan 2026 so I have been keeping an eye on potential options. We are on our 10th Audi, but the all new 2025 Q5 and Q6 eTron are much more expensive than previously- and only going to get more expensive with this current administration’s plan to pull the EV incentives by end of Sept 2025.

Although I would never have considered a GM product- the Acura ZDX AWD 1 pay lease deals were so inexpensive that I finally decided to ask my mom if she would consider this brand and going all EV (for last several years- both parents said no to full EV). Surprisingly, she said yes- esp at that price point,

So we went for test drive last Mon (9 days ago) and surprisingly, she said yes. So I did a little more research after that Irvine dealer tried to pull a switcheroo and jacked up the price (over the weekend).

It’s not the same level as our Audi’ and Lexus, but for 24 months and the prices that can be had- think it’s a fairly strong value for your parents’ consideration.

And now we have an extra car for 7 months which I’m ok with- since that also gives my mom some time to make a gradual transition to full EV. (If we didn’t have 240V NEMA 14-50 outlet to charge at home- the answer would definitely have remained a NO).

PS I would personally avoid Nissan- the mechanicals really went downhill ~ 10 years ago.
