Help with GLS coming off lease

Hi… New to the forum… so not sure whether this is the right place to post this.

We have a 2017 GLS coming off lease… and was in the market to lease a new one. Wife does not like how the X7 looks …so that pretty much narrows everything down to one car. reached out to dealers & most of the brokers also on this forum… but there is no inventory of GLS… in the market. so no luck there.

I spoke to dealer & MB financial services to extend my lease… but … Mercedes only extends it 1 month and 2 months ( if you have a signed on a new car) … feels like I would way overpay for a new car if I went that route.

so I thought why not buy my GLS. it is mostly fully loaded (82K MSRP for 2017 model) … only 22000 miles on it. my buyout price is $46,120. My question is

1 - does MB financial services negotiate that price?
2 - can I use any discounts to lower the price…
3 - any other suggestions on what I can do…

Thanks

The price you see is the price you get.

I’d start by getting some purchase quotes on the gls go see what it’s actually worth. There’s no good reason to pay $41k if the car is only worth $30k.

It’s definitely not worth paying 46k for a older model GLS. There are better deals to be had. What is your target range for a GLS lease? Have you tried reaching out to brokers?

Thank you… will check them out. initial look says … the price is in range

I reached out to most of the E brokers… There is literally No Inventory of GLS on the market right now… so tough to negotiate.
I went to couple of dealers in North east. One dealer had No GLS to show me… ( only GLS 580) . even on Loaner models ( 6K Miles on it) they were only giving high Single discounts…

Down the line, selling an out-of-warranty Mercedes GLS for a reasonable private party price will be a real Pita

If you try to trade it in, you will probably get lowballed. Dealers see people desperately trying to get out of money pits all the time, because massive repair bills are due.

Your options are to see if

  1. An LH broker can ship a GLS to you.

  2. Revisit the conclusion that the GLS is the only vehicle that you will lease for your next vehicle.

@AutoCompanion

did reach out to them… they did not have anything on GLS

What are you looking for? I’m not a broker but can try and help you out.

Looking to lease a 2020 GLS 450 (preferably black) … for 36/10K… loyalty, normally use MSD’s., 0 down…

thanks for the effort.

Can you PM me the options you want etc and your contact info?

Try the loaner route. I do see some dealers have them in stock. Also I heard that 2021 are coming in mid-nov.

thanks… At least in the northeast… the dealers are getting them 1/2 a week… so slim pickings.
maybe… I will just wait it out 4 / 5 months…and let the inventory improve.
