Help with a Dodge Journey Lease

I know everybody hates the Journey, but it suits my needs at the moment and I’m trying to get a cheap lease since dealers are trying to get rid of them anyways.

2018 Dodge Journey Crossroad
Blacktop version with nav, sunroof, leather, family entertainment package with tv in back, pretty much fully loaded.

Dealer started at ridiculous amount 500 a month.

Currently at
MRSP: 33,800
Discount 1,885
Rebate 5,750
Adjusted Price
26245
taxable fees 66.50
Current Price 26,245
Doc fee 689
tax 324.88
non tax fee 400
net price 27,658

Zero down 36 months/12k: 384.00

I don’t have money factor but I know its high and residual is low, they admitted that
said Journey doesnt lease well.
Tried to get me into a durango or grand cherokee but I don’t like the grand cherokee and the durango is just to big and too pricey.

I know the total price needs to come down but not having much luck, I have talked to people who have paid 21 k out the door for same vehicle but they purchased.

I LEFT dealer
they called and told me 1,000 down and 311 a month.
was thinking of going back to them with 290 a month and nothing down, is that feasible or should i ask lower?

I have a paid kia soul that carmax offered 5k for so not trading it just pocketing money if i can get a good lease deal.

Any help would be much appreciated

What are your needs exactly that this car is suiting vs other options? You might be surprised at those prices what other options you have.

Dodge is a subprime auto lender disguised as a car manufacturer. All of their models are 5+ years old and awful. Journeys are good for people with low credit that have a lot of negative equity. That’s it.

This.

A friend recently got a two year old Journey R/T with 15k miles on it for $14500. MSRP on it was like $34k. It wasn’t even a rental. So that’s about how much they’re worth. Cheeeeeep.

I liked the leather seats, sunroof, nav, it had lots of storage under seats and it the back, the back seats recline, w 2 kids and a great dane can fit them all. It drove really nice, smooth, quiet and had a V6 engine. It also had a flip down dvd player that could entertain the kids.
Any other suggestions for a midsize SUV that will lease for in the low 300’s with nothing down?
I don’t have to have a 3rd row seat but drove the rogue and not a fan, drove terrain and not a fan of the push buttons, i liked the buick envision but expensive.
I liked the Tiguan and Atlas but dealers around here are awful, kept inflating their numbers.
I was think of waiting for the Ascent which is coming out in July, but it probably won’t have any incentives for awhile.
Kia Sorrento is boring, Sportage too small.
Drove jeep grand cherokee and compass didn’t care for either their interiors are so cheap looking.
Maybe I am being too picky…

In prior months qx60, but a base one may be 350/mth in May.

I mean, if you drove it and genuinely like it then go for it if you can make the numbers work, but it sounds like a much better financing proposition all things being equal. I’ve just never personally heard or read a positive thing about them besides the price.

Jeez, depending on incentives and dealer discount you might be approaching Stelvio territory some months.

I know its overpriced which is why I don’t want to buy it so just going to keep looking around. Just getting frustrated bc the dealers here are always giving me inflated numbers like i cant add? Last month tried leasing a Tiguan and they were like ok it’ll be 280 a month with 4k down, and thats at 25k.

You’re basically leasing a rental car, that’s kind of sad

You can get all of this in literally any midsize 3 row SUV. Heck you could get all of that in a 2005 Honda Pilot. Try the Equinox if you don’t need a third row.

I think you need to stop talking pricing at dealerships. You seem surprised that car salesmen working off commission are trying to make commission. Do research online, test drive to find what you like, and negotiate via email with the sales manager.

I have tried via email all i get are phone calls nonstop and emails that say come in now test drive value trade bs. I cant get anyone to talk figures over email.

lol thanks im not getting it though…

Try emailing the sales manager instead of the “contact us” box.

Since you dont need a third row, I think I’d be looking at a CX-5, CH-R or a Forester in that class. All would be a much better prospect than a Dodge Journey I would imagine. I’ve only driven one as a rental (as they all seem to be) and was a hateful little thing but each to their own.

Friends don’t let friends lease “Dodge Journey’s”. We’re here to save you bud.

If you need cheap, don’t give an f about the quality of the vehicle, and absolutely need a third row, it’s not a bad car at all. As long as you buy it used so someone else can eat the massive depreciation. OP didn’t really seem to fit that description though.
