This is a car you buy, not lease.

Thanks. Can you explain why?

Very few cars can actually be lease hacked. A specific set of circumstances has to exist for that to happen.

This car has zero incentives to lease so basically for a smaller payment you are giving Acura $595 to give you the opportunity to rent their car.

There are still some benefits to leasing over ownership, as long as the money is not that far. For example I’m going to try to lease a car (in my name) for my teenager to drive so I won’t care what happens to the carfax, plus once he goes to college I can turn the car back in.

In this example assuming a 36 month lease, the lease will cost you about $29,000 over three years.

Contrast that to buying the car at $53k and selling/trading it in three years. I think the car will be worth more than $24k.

That makes sense. They are unwilling to drop the price if I buy it cash. They are willing to drop the price $3500 if I finance but interest rate is around 5%

Finance for the discount and then pay if off right away.

5% is a pretty good rate right now. You can always refinance later if rates drop.

That’s interesting they are willing to discount more with a lease. Must be getting some kickback for leasing.

You can always lease to get the max discount then finance the buyout, but taking the acquisition fee into account and likely fees to end the lease and it may eat into the $1500 difference in your lease versus finance discount.

Finance the MDX and also, get the SH-AWD version. It handles a lot better than the FWD. You can thank me later.

Thanks. What would be a resonable negotiation to get the price further down?

This is the best finance deal I got.

MSRP $58,550
Discount $4,250
Sell Price $54,300
Doc fee $699
Tag/title $249
Tax $4,160.11
Out the door $59,408.11

60 months with approved credit at 4.9% with o down = $1,121

Is this a good deal to finance an Acura MDX?

ACURA MDX Tech package AWD 2025.

MRSP $60,750
Rebates/discounts $7000
Sales price $53,750
Tax $4200
Tags and tittle fees $ 254
Dealer charges $800
Shipping $600
Total balance $ 59,464

Interest rate is 5%.

What would it cost to lease the MDX? This is a high payment for an MDX. There are no subsidized financing rates either. There appears to be an MDX national lease deal ending soon.

This is the lease deal

What’s the breakdown between discount and rebates?

If you lease in TN, you don’t have to pay the full taxes upfront? If $776 includes taxes, I think the lease is the way to go here if this is the vehicle you really want. For over $1K a month to buy you are in BMW X5 territory to lease.

I’m planning to finance and then pay it off right away. We live the vehicle and planning to keep as long as possible.
