Hi! I recently switched jobs and now work from home, so I really don’t need this car the way I did when I leased it.
I have a 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ Luxury 2 RWD that I already posted in Private Transfers, but I wanted to ask here too in case anyone has advice on the best way to find someone to take over a lease.
It is genuinely the most beautiful car I’ve ever owned, but she mostly just sits now.
The payment is $665.72/month including NC tax, with no cash due to me. It has about 13,500 miles currently and the lease runs through January 2028.
Cadillac Financial does allow lease assumptions, including out of state, as long as the assuming lessee qualifies and registers the vehicle in the same state as their driver’s license.
For anyone who has successfully transferred a lease, where did you have the most luck finding someone? Is Leasehackr usually enough, or are there other places you’d recommend posting?

GM Financial does not allow out of state transfers
The assuming party must register the vehicle in the same state that you are currently registering the vehicle in and their DL must be of the matching state as well.
As for best ways to transfer, just advertise in as many places as possible. Swap-a-Lease (SAL for short) and Lease Trader are good options. You can even advertise in local classifieds such as Craigslist or Facebook marketplace if you’re prepared to deal with the typical tire kickers that come from those sites.
AH ok I misunderstood the out of state transfer restriction, thank you! Yeah Marketplace was awful, most people didn’t know what a lease assumption was.
