The car I want is located about eight hours from my home at another dealership. I figured if I fly there, get a hotel… etc, it will cost about $550. Then I have the long drive home. The local dealer said they could ship it here for $1,000. I found some online quotes from auto transport companies around $400. I would have to sign all documents and send money remotely. Have any of you ever done something like this?
Lol you get what you pay for … for $400.
FL to CA is about $1600. So for $400 what is that a couple of hundred miles?
If you search, plenty of people have shipped cars. I had no issues shipping one from Delaware to California.
I had one shipped, through a broker, nearly 700 miles.
If you need recommendations for reputable shippers, maybe reach out to a few brokers in your targeted geographical region to see if they’d be willing to share companies they use. Most dealers could probably recommend someone too.
The pain of dealing with car shippers myself is not one I would repeat to save $600.
I went to pick up once, had once dealer send it with their shippers, and used montway once. It’s a personal preference, if it’s an expensive car you probably would want to pick it up (except if you go with enclosed trailer).
Under current conditions, $400 is concerning. I would expect $600, at best, for what I assume to be 400’ish miles.
I’ve shipped 5 at this point and the only time it wasn’t a hassle was when the dealer I got it from used their shipper. BUT, for double the price? I’d find my own.
I’ve used this guy Mario out of Miami. Very solid broker and done 3-4 cars Nashville to NYC for about 7-800. Never any problems. (786) 458-4621

What was your experience with Montway? I’m thinking of using them.
Was pretty good, they came in cheaper on their website than their quote on uship. They did add $50 to the quote to find a driver faster. Car came earlier than expected.
Thanks for the feedback and the tip!
