The hacker still had to shell out nearly $8k before that rebate. Anyway, I have made my point.

Buy a used 2017 Bolt for ~$15k and put a whole bunch of miles on it without paying for gas or regular oil changes. You can get one with 30-40k miles so a whole bunch of life left.

If going that route, buy a used Prius. It will cost a lot less in depreciation.
