GR Corolla Pricing

just look at the nissan Z almost $110k after MAs

don’t even get me started on that mess. I’ve had a couple of Zs and was really looking forward to this newest one. Pricing, even without MA, is obscene. I don’t know what the hell Nissan is thinking. $50k to get one with an LSD, and will still get embarrassed by muscle cars. It can barely take on a V6 Camaro. Wow. Final nail in the coffin for Nissan in my personal book, sadly.

Since November is the on sale date, they should start seeing the allocations within the next few weeks. I would suggest checking in with them on a weekly basis. There is a good chance you (and everyone else) might be competing with the dealership employees to grab the first batch of cars. I am fully expecting my purchase date to push out to some time in first half of 2023.

Is this the same car as the GreatSix, or something new?

I was awaiting the brand new Z for a long, long time.

There really aren’t many manual cars left let alone a rear drive manual 6-cylinder. The new Z tested favorably against the more powerful, faster, and better equipped Supra. Though, I’d imagine this is a lot of bias towards what a “drivers car” should be and is subjective.

The GR Corolla is very interesting and I think it’s priced competitively with its competition. I think these hot hatches have always been expensive. The original R32 was what, 29k/30k in 2003 money. How much is that accounting for inflation? 41k/44k?

And the latest gen Golf R is what? at least $50k by the time you’ve paid for any dealer blessings - and that’s if you can even find one.

People are going to go crazy over these things and markups are going to be Bronco bad.
The reviews are going to be all the same - ‘what remarkable value for money’ except it isn’t because just like the Telluride and Palisade, it’ll be virtually impossible to find one at MSRP but I cant wait to see/hear them on the road! Definitely a future classic.

same I had a 370Z for 5 years, sport package with LSD. I won’t pay 55k+tax for a new one. I ended up getting a Miata early this year and will hold it for a few years

I had a 350z (HR motor) & a 370z Touring w/ Sport package. They are excellent cars to drive - really - but I got lost once I go into the larger displacement motors.

Not my photo, but that was my exact car. Most people thought it was something much more exotic than a bland ole Nissan.

And the Nissan dealership experience will be the same as it was. How many of you remember walking into a Nissan Dealership in the 1990ish with a Twin Turbo 300ZX roped off in the middle of the showroom. You’d walk into the showroom 6 months later and the same car was still there. Same thing when the 350Z came out in the early 2000s. You could basically walk into a Toyota or Mazda Dealership and test drive a Supra or an RX7. The Z when it comes out gets the full ADM treatment (in normal times) plus the “No test drive without a non refundable deposit” line from many dealers.

No joke, my wife and I once came upon a new Prowler still roped off in a showroom at least a year after the vehicle had been discontinued.

Yeah, no test drives on a $3x,000 car.LOL. It was a 2008 350z, showroom, at the time. I’ll never give a dealer like that the time of day, nor my money.

Even new 40k Z is better at this price, but good luck getting one I guess

I agree the new Z is a mess, to sum it up, its a great GT car (enjoy it on your commute) but once you take a corner or brake, you’ll feel it fall apart.

Chevy did a great job with the 1LE package

Not to mention they perplexingly withheld an LSD from the base/Sport Z. You need to go for the $51k variant just to get this. Meanwhile, LSD is standard on a GR86, Civic Si, etc.

Im pretty disappointed with the Z, I guess it will be a cool drift car in 5 years

I really wanted a low spec Z for around $40k. But given the reviews, a manual Supra is starting to look better even for mid-$50k. But even then, for $25k less, a GR86 Premium starts to look pretty good too.

Of course, even that one has ADM of $3k-$5k, which at nearly half the value of my ‘06 RSX-S makes me face reality and realize I don’t need to upgrade my weekend toy, though it probably does mean I can justify investing some money into rehabbing my RSX without feeling guilty about it.

Not my car but looks similar to this one:

It’s not that I’m disappointed with the Z car on its own. It’s that it’s just not up to par with where the performance world is. I love Z cars to death, but my money is going into the Hellcat.

The performance/hp/investment numbers just aren’t there. I have no doubt that the Z will still be a great drivers car, but it’s 2 hours late to the party. And I say this with a broken heart. I’m 100% Nissan/Infiniti and all for the Z. I may purchase one later one, if the price makes sense, but right now I don’t see it.
