Government fees for Jeep lease in NJ

,

Hi,
Anyone can help me to find the exact gov fee for NJ?
Each broker said to me different gov fees ($750, $500…) I think it should be a fixed amount for the state.

Thanks,

They tend to mix in their ‘fees’ with the government fees. So it’s difficult.
You have to put down the make (jeep) / model / price you are buying it at ,etc.

Thank you!
I am trying to get a Wrangler 4xE, MSRP $58,000. Should I negotiate the fee?

The gov fees are what they are. They may be estimating different amounts, but the gov fees themselves won’t change.

Other fees may, but if you’re looking at brokers, your bigger price difference is probably going to come down to shipping cost from the dealer the broker uses.

Some examples of other fees, luxury taxes, title runner, or double dip fees.

I paid $587 in gov. fees for my last JGC lease (39 months) in NJ. 36 month term would have been ~$80 cheaper in reg. fees. You can calculate registration fees here. NJMVC | Reg Fee Calc

Title fee is around another $80-90 I believe.

It will vary a decent amount.

General Rule of Thumb for NJ

~$324.50 for NJ Reg

If selling price is greater than $45k, it get hits with supplemental title fee @ 0.40% of the selling price.

If the dealer is out of state, there’s usually a courier fee for the agency used to register the car on the dealership’s/consumer’s behalf. Usually is between $50-$130 (highest I’ve seen).

Add those three up and you should get an approximate #.

Side note:when the car gets more than 40mpg / or is an an ev they are exempt.

But it’s not an EV

And it is rated 40+ Mpg—E but that’s a different metric than Mpg which is only 20.

Ah noted, haven’t kept up on the 4xe

Good to know. I always knew there was another 0.40% for cars over $45k but never knew where it was added. That explains the rest of the $587 I paid. Thanks.

Are you really getting a 4xe for 20% off MSRP? Or is the 58k number including their junk accessories?

Ha, I wish. I’m not OP. That was a Jeep GC Overland lease from summer 2020 that I posted.
