Good time to finance a Porsche? Macan or Cayenne

I think it depends on how you define value. A $250k 911 Turbo S is weirdly a value compared to other supercars/exotics when you are looking at performance and maintenance costs. I think that is also why the GT /GTRS cars are so sought after as well since a comparable track focused car from Italy will be twice as much.

But I do agree with your general sentiment that if someone is looking to minimize their costs/exposure for a short-term, there are better options. An SQ5 with Audi Care for $995 will costs less to own than a Macan S/GTS over 2-3 years. You buy a Porsche because you can and finances are secondary.

Tax rate here is around 8%
Sucks. Trying to see if there’s anyway to reduce that.

I would be willing to go that route as well. But I haven’t found any sq5’s for retail. And any dealers that might even get near msrp is going to be ordered which will take 3-4 months. That’s why I wanted to see if an available macan s at msrp is a good deal. Sounds like it is.

Any of those other cars are a better fit and will be better value. One parent doesn’t care about the car at all and the other just wants a badge while driving 2 miles a day. There are 0 concerns about driving dynamics.

They can do what they want ofc but I think those are worst target customers to buy a cayenne or macan. It’s just simply not a value purchase and if you don’t care about the benefits of a Porsche, what is the point ?

Right… which was only made clear in post 12. After that post, basically everyone started saying, “Just get whatever Porsche you like.”

I do think there are two types of Porsche customers.
The first that appreciates the driving dynamics and heritage. The second type likes the badge. I think more customers fall into category 2 than we think. Although I think paying premium pricing for a cayenne or Macan isn’t worth it, It doesn’t matter to me if someone else chooses to go that route.

How about liking both. Doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive.

I know you won’t regret it. Small price to pay for what the heart wants. Congrats!

Wallet be feeling quite a bit lighter. But this dealership is selling at msrp so I guess that’s helps console me a little. I believe they still have a handful of regular macan s for sale.
Love this color.

Don’t see if anyone mentioned it, but the Macan will not qualify for the expedited deprecation for sec 179 since it weighs less than 6000 lbs.

I believe the rest on your list will qualify.

Do any of you guys know what is the going rate for regular Cayennes in SoCal nowadays ? Msrp ? Over ?

If you can’t find MSRP and don’t mind going to AZ let me know and I can connect you with my advisor. You can even check if you can take delivery at the experience center. Last time I checked they only allowed Taycans and maybe 911s but this was more than a month ago.

My brother just bought one and he said he paid 5k over MSRP.

Was that for in stock or for a custom order?

I called several dealers in socal for a cayenne and the first response is usually “we charge 10k markup”

One dealer almost immediately said will you do 5k markup when I said no to 10k. I kept asking for msrp.

Several dealers more east of LA are doing around 5k

I was able to secure an incoming car (going to arrive early April) at just slightly over msrp from one of the dealers.

They did say they would do msrp on a custom order but that would take until end of May/early June.

that color is amazing - congrats

thanks. it’s even more fun to drive!
