Good Ol' Days are back

Free GM cars, $200 Benz, $400 Porsche, people flipping for positive equity. We’re back baby. I wanted to thank everyone for their patience during these trying times. How long will it last ?

HUH?!? We are still far from it bud. ICE leases are still abysmal across the board - I had to finance my first car ever. EVs have destroyed the already falling apart car market. COVID → chip supply issues → EV propaganda == where we are now in a terrible auto environment.

BMW - 1.9% financing is the only semblance of the old days. X5, X7s, X3s all lease incredibly poorly. The 5 is ugly and the 3 is getting old, but you still can’t lease for less than 1%. All the better deals are on the ugly/unreliable Electric models.

Mercedes - again, there are zero ICE deals to be had. The Electrics are all ugly and poorly made bricks. Let me know when there are good deals again on GLE/GLS/S Class. Years ago they were fire selling E classes, no longer doing this.

Lexus - leases have gone down the toilet. I’ve leased an NX, IS, RX for around $300 each in the past per month. Look at the prices now.

Porsche/VW/Audi - historically have never leased well and even worse now. Aside from Etrons and Taycans, good luck getting a good lease on a Cayenne, Q7, Q8, etc. Also, these CPO leases are bogus, whey the heck do I want to lease someone else’ old luggage for a year and still pay close to new car prices per month???

Infiniti/Nissan - the only semblance is the QX60 if you are returning an Infiniti and have a BMW in the garage.

Tesla + Rivian - poster children for what is wrong with cars these days

GM/Ford - honestly I don’t pay attention as their cars don’t interest me at all. However, Escalades are extremely overpriced (even if you are writing them off)

Land Rover - again, never leased well and still don’t, but I will finance a RR sport in a few years once discounts can be had

It’s simple supply and demand.

5 years ago It was no big thing to see cars sit for 3-6 months and have 200 cars on the ground be considered tight at a major metro dealer.

Also I feel like people aren’t keeping cars as long either. I go through 10 cars a year at a minimum. Sometimes leases are much cheaper than buying too. I think if rates came back down like BMW is doing, ppl would buy. 1.99 vs 8.99 is like $500 difference payment a month on a X7.

Shit is crazy out here.

Ugly maybe, but I would not call a BMW EV unreliable.

Every one of them I have had has never had an issue (that had to do with it being an EV, at least)

The new cars prices are 2-3x the CPO lease prices in most cases, you get to have a car for a year, not worry about it, and give it back. People are getting Cayenne Turbo’s for $1,300/mo, that is not “close to new car prices”

All that aside, why’d you hold back, tell us how you really feel lol

You are the exception Sir. People are keeping cars much longer than they used to.

“ In the United States, the average age of a car on the road is <>12.5 years<>, which is a record high. This is due to a number of factors, including: Supply constraints, Reduced consumer demand, Higher inflation and interest rates, and The COVID-19 pandemic.”

“ Americans are keeping their cars for longer periods of time, with the average age of vehicles at 12.5 years.[2] Our study found that on average, people have their longest-owned cars for about 8 years.”

Edmunds said that the BMW iX is the most reliable vehicle in their long-term EV testing fleet.

And it’s really not that ugly. Extremely comfortable inside, great tech, and the base model can lease for $700ish per month.

It’s one of the most enjoyable cars to drive, super comfortable and I’ve had plenty of compliments on it which I didn’t get with my last two bmw’s.

I’m (im)patiently waiting for my custom-ordered iX to arrive. Ordered on September 30th and it’s scheduled to be built by October 24th. I don’t think it’ll arrive before Christmas (since the shipping is by far the longest part of the process), but that would be great if it does happen.

If the arrival at port and ship time just right it’s certainly possible it may arrive before EOY.
