That is a terrible deal. You should be able to get much lower than the national average! Should be able to get at least 10% off if not more. Also have you test driven one? There are far better SUVs out there unless you just want the name. The X1 is terrible.
Welcome to Seattle market-horrible!
BMW of Portland has one on special 24mo/299 $1999 due at signing.
Also can refer you to a great sales manager from there.PM if interested.
P.S.
You pay tax on the monthly payment not on the sale price.
Thanks for all the suggestion. I was able to negotiate them down to $500/36 months /12K Miles per year with $800 down. Secondly, they also took care of my disposition fee on my previous lease return. Although i know this is a terrible deal, but unfortunately Bellevue/Seattle they don’t negotiate it much.
I’m kind of out of the loop on what X1s go for these days, but that’s definitely well above the 1% rule. Even if the X1’s super popular right now, I’d expect that you could still negotiate a better sales price.
Why are you paying $4200 sales tax on a $535/mo lease?
WA state is kind of funky with sales tax. First off, most counties have a higher sales tax for cars than regular sales tax. Then you pay sales tax based on where you live if you lease, but based on where you buy (ie dealer address) if you buy.
Sales tax in the Seattle area is 10%ish, depending on the city/county. So for a $553 lease your tax should be about $50/mo or $1750ish for the total of the lease. How on earth are you getting to $4236? Oh wait I know, you’re paying on the entire purchase price. You are getting royally ripped off by the dealer if they’re pulling that bullshit on you.
Seattle right now is one of the worst places to buy cars. There is so much tech money sloshing around, dealers don’t have to deal with you hacking away $20/mo when some Amazon dude who just cashed in $700K worth of options walks in and pays whatever the dealer asks for.
I’m only 1/2 kidding, Seattle has a lot of money flowing around right now with people looking to impress. So good deals on BMWs…pretty much impossible to find.
Yeah,BMW of Seattle don’t even want to try.
I remember when we went there asking how close they can get to BMW of Portland’s offer. The sales guy said that the numbers didn’t make sense, then he went to his manager’s office and after 30 mins of absence they came back with a counter offer-5K down
A week later our car was delivered from Portland to Seattle by a sales guy and we’ve been paying the number which doesn’t make sense for the last two years
Oh boy. They are still being silly. I bought a car from BMW seattle. And they still tried to give me an 45k X1 with a 570 payment a couple months ago.
I’ve bought from bmw Bellevue. They tend to be hungrier. Kuni BMW in Portland are also pretty aggressive. There is a way to get a reasonable deal if you are prepared to do the leg work and possibly drive 350 miles!
I can second that Kuni BMW is very aggressive. As is BMW of Portland. It’s harder now in general because multiple security deposits are gone. I live in Seattle and find BMW of Bellevue won’t give you the time of day if you don’t fit their “profile.” Seattle is a great bunch of guys, but they are not at all aggressive on pricing - they don’t have to be as noted.
I’m just seeing this thread and I’m pretty out of the loop on what the X1 goes for, especially the 2017s.
Back in January we leased a 2016 former loaner X1 from Kuni with an MSRP of just under $46k for $349/month inclusive of King County sales tax using maximum MSD and paying doc fee and licensing upfront. Those deals are few and far between now and I don’t expect to get a deal like this again.
Yup, 100%.
I’m waiting for the new X5 and going down to Kuni to get myself a deal on an 18.
I’ve worked with Dale @ BMW Seattle and he’s just a great, great guy. I can spend hours jabbering with him but they have just closed the book on any half way decent deals.
My feeling is do your numbers, get a deal together on paper you want to target and hit up Kuni, do it at the end of the month and tell the you are willing to drive down and do a deal that day if you they can make your numbers work and my feeling is you’ll get what you want. The key is doing your homework and settling for a good to average deal. The screamers have all left the building.
This is the best advice. You can also pit BMW Portland and Kuni against each other IF they both have the vehicle you want. They’re both willing to be competitive, if you have done your homework - if you haven’t, then all bets are off.
I highly recommend Devin Wells (Internet Team) at Kuni - he’s a great guy as well and, if you show him you are serious, will make the transaction very easy.
