I’m interested in a GMC Terrain and my employer qualifies for the GMC Supplier Discount. Is sales price still negotiable even with the supplier discount as well as all lease/conquest rebates? The quote I received only discounted $500~ off MSRP after the supplier discount.
Ask for 33,000 before rebates. 10% off plus another 500 or so in CCR for the supplier code. Having the code generally means they can go deeper than usual if they want.
It’s comical that he is acting like the CCR and other incentives come out of his pocket. They don’t. It might be time to move on to a different dealer. Lester Glenn sales managers would give quotes over email to me. Decent pricing off the bat, too
Thanks. I inquired about discounting off MSRP before the supplier discount and he kinda dismissed it. He said “As to price I am under the supplier price so I have tried to provide you with our best quote from the start”
I’ll reach out to ask for additonal discounts and will also contact Lester Glenn to see what they come back with. It seems like with the current incentives + the supplier discount the Terrain is really appealing right now.
If you look at how @chevysalesgirl structures her deals on her sheet, any supplier program is worth around an additional 15 to 20 dollars off off her quoted prices, which equates to around 500 to 750 dollars in additional CCR given to the dealer to play with. So they can definitely do a bigger discount, some people do it all day. Just go straight to the sales manager for the quote, don’t get a sales rep involved. The sales manager and general manager need to play chess every month. Most sales reps are playing checkers, and for fair reasons. Sales rep wants as much commission as possible for the deal, especially before it gets to finance and the finance manager picks it apart to pack in add ons so he can get paid commission too. On the “money losing” Leasehackr deals the sales rep is getting a very minimal amount for the sale, with the potential for some additional bonuses on the back end thanks to good survey responses, etc. The Sales manager and General manager are concerned with volume and hitting their targets, so they can cut to the chase, desk the deal and then pass it off to one of their favorite sales people to get credit for it since it’s done and they won’t waste too much time on a deal with very little commission attached to it.
I reached out again to get a clarification on a discount before supplier and rebates and received the following. This is from the General Sales Manager:
“You have to include the rebates in the % off you are 400 under supplier and another 4500 in rebate
I’d just thank them for their time and move on then. Which dealer is this? There’s no shortage of GMC dealers in NY/NJ/CT/PA. Tell them to get back to you if they want to do a deal at $33,511 before rebates, incentives and supplier codes are applied.
Also reached out to GMC Mahwah and received the following from a more expensive mode with a MSRP of $40,925 - seems off.
We used Supplier and further rebates of $3750 on the lease
Used $1000 +1st payment @ 459.68 x 36 mth /12 k miles per.
this will include NJ taxes and fees on Stock#11175 2019 Terrain SLT with the options below
Ha, new cars and commissions, that’s kind of funny. Most new volume brands are mini’s at pretty much sticker! (Especially any kind of supplier/employee deal)
For whatever reason they just aren’t dealing right now. I tried to get a number on a different unit and I was just given the website dealer discount. It happens. I’d try Lester Glenn like @BoardWalkNJ suggested. If Pennsylvania is a possibility there’s a few good dealers out there. On Cargurus Faulkner in Feasterville PA looks pretty aggressive right now.
