I have read tons of posts and leased in the past but have not been able to really figure out whether or not the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is a truck that leases well or if it requires lots of incentives. I know that the Toyota trucks lease well; however, I really like the Sierra and was wondering if anybody had any input or advice.
I am located in North Carolina but willing to drive for the right deal. Basically can anyone offer any info as to whether this truck leases well either now or ever and are there any brokers or anybody that specializes in my area or in this truck. Thanks for all the advice.
Hello from a fellow North Carolinian. Last year at this time I was full size truck shopping, focused mainly on the F150 because I was in possession of a $3000 Private Cash Offer - but was considering all models [Negotiated hard on a couple of Titans and many F150s]. I gave a few cursory attempts at the GM products but couldn’t stack enough discounts together to get decent pricing in the area. One thing I found with the F150 is the lease incentives in the Southeast were atrocious compared to other regions. I ended up with a Tundra because it met my price target (and SETF allowed MSDs which helped greatly). Love the truck except for the gas mileage.
Another f150 guy here, I guess it all depends it what your budget is. The tundra is a great value truck but it lacks the shine of an updated bodystyle such as the f150/ram/sierra/silverado. At this point in time the ram probably leases best out of all 3, f150 leads sales so no need to incentivize unfortunately and gm is somewhere in the middle. You should evaluate all options but if monthly is your goal you won’t beat the tundra, if your goal is truck experience i.e tech, fuel mpg, towing/hauling you won’t beat the big 3.
Depends what you think is a good deal and also what trim level you’re looking at. In the northeast I would say 1% is definitely attainable but takes some work. The unsold 19’s have fairly good incentives on them if you qualify for most or all and with a modest dealer discount you could definitely get a 65k truck for under 600/month all in.
Yeah, kind of a trade off for a low lease payment. My 2017 averaged 12.5 MPG over 20k miles. My 2012 F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost averaged 19 over 28k miles. Is the gas mileage difference enough to justify a higher payment? I.E. - If you’re paying $300 for a Tundra and the difference in gas mileage is $100 a month - can you get a similar equipped Sierra for $400?
you won’t get better gas than the ford, nobody else has a twin turbo 6 that competes with an 8. You will always be at a disadvantage here however not that it matters but said twin turbo 6s don’t last nearly as long as N/A 8 cylinders.
With that being said I would pay up to $100-$200 more for the sierra over a similarly equipped tundra just due to the update in tech and driving experience.
I honestly would have went with ram if Ford wasn’t the only truck to offer massaging seats, have to give it to them they have stuff that the others can’t get, but I guess you could say that for all 3, ram has cooled/reclining seats in the back and gm has heads up display.
Toyota found its niche I suppose but updating their truck could catapult them back into competition with the big 3.
I had a 2016 F150 Platinum as a company car for about a year until jumping ship. Those seats were amazing sitting in LA traffic and on long trips. Tried (unsuccessfully) to buy it when I left and then tried leasing one. Couldn’t swallow the $900 lease payment offered and ended up in the Tundra. F150 was hands down a nicer truck and towed much better than the Tundra.
it’s not $900 to lease lol, should have hit me up. Got one for roughly $700 0das for 15k miles with tonneau cover, wearcare, bedliner and extended warranty. Best place to shop is dc metro for f150 kr/ platinum/ limited and then ship to wherever.
I couldn’t get near that at the time in SoCal. I would have jumped on that. Right now my company car is a 2016 Ram 1500 Tradesman with 110k miles and more sensors flying than fleet services can keep up with lol.
