GMC Canyon Discount Percentage

I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge on an achievable discount % for a Canyon Denali in Chicago area?

I am in the “I wont come in to the dealership, send me a quote via email” phase of negotiations and got the first offer of $445 (0 DAS, 36/12k). If I work backwards with the calculator I get a 9.4% discount on a 45K MSRP (assuming buy rate MF of .00129).

I know I should get a deal sheet but I want to get another couple offers via email before I push for those.

Anybody done a Canyon lease recently that could provide feedback on % discount?

10% off is a good target before rebates, so it looks like you are in the ballpark. I’m guessing you are talking about a 2019? Using zip code 60007 it looks like there is 2000 in lease cash and and additional 1500 if you have loyalty or a competitive lease. So you just need to know what the dealer discount is. That doesn’t sound bad if it’s a true 0 DAS, but you won’t know unless you get some more quotes from other dealers. Also check to see if you qualify for any of the supplier type programs ie military, first responder, college, supplier, etc since that can help shave a little more off the top.

Thanks for the info, yes a 2019 and I am in 60201 and was told on Edmunds forum that there was $500 lease cash and $1500 Competitive lease? I’ll have to ask about incentives with one of the dealers tomorrow to see if anyone is hiding incentives.

Unfortunately I don’t qualify for any of the employer/military/etc…programs.

Edmunds is showing 500 in lease cash plus a 1500 customer incentive. Autobytel confirms that. The competitive lease or loyalty incentive is separate. That’s another 1500 dollars if you qualify, so it should be a total of $3,000.00 in incentives as long as you qualify for loyalty or have a competitive lease in the household.

I think I got the taxes right for Suburban Cook County (I’d make sure of that, but I was able to find the 8.25% number for non Chicago residents of Cook County), but with a real 10% dealer discount on a 45k MSRP you should look something like this. They are apparently capped at 166 for the Doc fee so I marked it up to that and left the state fees at 400 since I don’t know what they are. Using the numbers I plugged in it looks like they are at or around 7% to 8% off the truck and are using some of the extra lease cash to make up the difference. If I use a selling price of 41500 I get 445 exactly with 0 DAS. If I use 40500 it’s 412 with 0 DAS.

Thank for checking that out and the sample calculator. That all in line with what I’m finding, the couple dealerships sending quotes are all landing in mid 400’s so I think bouncing them back and forth off each other and asking for 11% off should put me right around $400 or slightly above.

Hey, I’ve also been looking at Canyons. Curious, what would adding GM Supplier to this deal do (if anything)?

You should negotiate without mentioning that, but usually the additional rebate supplier gets you is specific to the vehicle in question. It can vary, but as an example someone recently posted an ad in the marketplace on a Terrain that had an additional 750 dollar rebate if you had a supplier code. Best bet would be to bring up the supplier code after you get a price for the car. A lot of dealers will claim that supplier pricing is a fixed thing and they can’t go below it, but that’s not exactly true.
