Good morning,
I have a question. I completed a one-pay lease using a GM credit card for an Equinox EV. After researching the card, it seems like a really good cash back rate of 4%, applicable toward a new lease or purchase. My question is does the dealer apply the points and charge the rest of the balance on a future on-pay lease? If these $2-5k equinox-style deals are still available in two years, I think I could potentially accrue enough points over that time frame to fund another lease in it’s entirety - just want ot make sure the dealer can apply those points on site to their full value.
They can do this. You can also use your points to make a payment on your GM card as well, which would allow you to essentially do the same thing on your own if they give you any trouble with it.

I was just told that I couldn’t apply it to the statement credit on my credit card bill or it would be redeemed as a fraction of a percent instead of 4%. They implied that I could apply the points towards GM financial payments or through the dealership at time of purchase but not as a statement credit for the credit card balance.
You can redeem points towards charges at gm dealers at full value, I redeemed ~300k points to cover a 3k one pay. If you redeem for non gm charges you get reduced credit. You should get 7% back in points so charging on the card and redeeming for credit is better than just redeeming direct with the dealer.

I am just starting to learn the way of GM. Can someone help explain the cards? I can get regular, business, or supplier (extended family) what one is the best?
Will a dealer let me put a full purchase price on one?
True GM Supplier discount doesn’t stack with GM Rewards. The GM Rewards Extended Family card allows you to bundle them. Dealers will vary as to whether they will allow you to charge an entire One Pay on a card or not, it depends on the amount. I’ve done it before but I’ve also had to split the amount between cards and one time I had to agree to split the card transaction fee with the dealer in order to get them to do it.
They’re wrong, plus dealers hardly do one pays or MSDs so they’re often just yapping without actually looking (because that involves bothering a manager to read an actual PDF/look it up)
Yeah, a lot of times they simply dont know or dont wa to know. GM lets you redeem on “dealership spend” and theres really no way for them to determine WHAT the spend was, just that there was a charge from a dealership onto your card.
Got it. Well I’ll tackle that in 2 years lol. My dealer actually let me one pay and didn’t charge me a credit card fee. Really, quite the solid transaction. I’m hoping I accrue enough points over the next couple of years to lease another one.
Can you share the dealer?
Ok are the earnings from multiple cards put towards the same account? Meaning if I have two cards and use the supplier one at the dealer? Given it doesn’t earn enough points
Does GM allow msds or only one pay?
He actually posts here. Simpson Chevy of Irvine
No MSDs. The credit card question I’m not sure about. I suppose if both cards were linked to the Same GM Rewards account it should work. You are also allowed to transfer points to another member of your household. It’s a simple process and probably would work in this case.
