GM Lease return (Wear & Tear charge)

Hello Hackrs,

I currently have a Chevy Lease which I need to return in Jan 2018. I have already leased a Mazda Grand Select. So thinking of returning the Chevy Lease 1 month early. I understand that I will have to pay the $350 disposition fee and even the last month. My main question is that there is a little scratch and a dent on the side (NYC woes). The inspection was done and they quoted around $450 to fix it. Now shall i try to get it fixed outside before returning the car or shall I just hand over the car to GM and then they will send me a bill. I have read on this forum that usually GM never sends you a bill.

What do you guys think?

P.S: I do not have any wear & tear coverage.

I wouldn’t risk it – GM Financial will most likely bill you the $450.

If you can find someone cheaper to repair it, I would do that. And keep all the receipts and documentation (e.g., pictures).

Take a picture and use the Yelp quoting feature. There are hundreds of cheap body shops around NYC. One message and let them bid on it for you.

My wife sideswiped my Mercedes into a pole in NYC and the BENZ dealer wanted over a grand. I put it out for bid, place in the Bronx did it for $300.
