For all those hackrs getting amazing Chevy Equinox and Blazer EV leases, I’d be interested to know how many are purchasing the XS Wear and Tear Package from Chevy. We were quoted $700 for a 24 month lease, and it Includes tire wear charges. Our other EV (BMW) needed new tires after 24 months, so may be worth it if these vehicles go through tires quickly as well. But these are lighter vehicles. What are you doing? Thanks.
Skip it. You’re betting that the tires will need replacing exactly at turn in. What if it’s before?
If you are able to use extra 1200 miles you get, i think its worth it, dealer cost for that package is $550 so may be negotiate to $600? I have not taken it personally as we could not get to 600 rather were at 800 and i have no use for the miles.
Ev tires wear out before 15k
We had a Spark EV. Got the protection. Hit a dear near the end of ownership, leaving front end damage. Had the wrong tires on the car. Turned it in, no problems. Was worth it. Insurance, though, is mainly for peace of mind and protection, not for thinking you’re going to win.
Had squaretrade on a mower. Got a check coming soon to refund me since it broke.
Had Xcelerate on the IPace. A few months later, the 12v charger controller died. Had to replace batteries off warranty, but the charger and labor were on warranty. That was a good 1500 saved, even after the 500 deductible.
But then 9/10 things I own never need any warranty service.
So it all depends.
