Old thread but has anyone recieved a GM card bonus offer recently? It seems these have dried up., however it also seems that those with legacy cards (GM Card) got better offers than those with the newer buypower card.
I sure haven’t gotten any top offs in a while…Usually what happens is we buy something and then a couple of months later I get the top up offer or bonus earnings.
FWIW, the last few times I got them it was in the fall… Which sorta makes sense as auto makers try to sell current model year cars as the new ones are hitting. A 2019 once 2020 rolls around is now even more officially, one model year old. If you have Costco (especially the executive card) last 4 years they’ve done some pretty darn good lease deals or $700 bonus cash also typically late fall.
In summary, as we are as well trying to replace two vehicles, waiting is sometimes your friend . Luckily we own two relatively new vehicles in good working condition, so we can wait.
GM top off offers typically cone Jan-March. Rarely do they do anything in the summer. Sometimes you will see it in fall.
Only thing i got this month was 1000$ toward lease for being a Chevrolet rewards member. The points you get for service, accessories etc.
Chevy has tightened up on these types of incentives recently. Before you could get a $1k private offer almost on demand. Now the only time I’ve seen such offers is through MyChevy rewards, where you have to use points to get the incentive monies
i have a buypower card for a few years and only got a 500 offer incentive. Meanwhile my dad has an older card and used to regularly receive 1000 or 1500+ in incentives. Although he hasn’t gotten anything in over a year and a half. I used his offer sept 2017
I have not seen a top off in 2 years either.
In Dec I leased an Equinox to burn $1000 points and just burned $1500 in July for client of mine that needed a duramax in the worst way.
So now that my points are a bit lowered and I have “purchased” 2 vehicles I suspect i’ll either get a double-the-regular earnings or a topoff.
If not at least by christmas i’ll have it built up again
I received a top off of 3k Jan 2017. It was a tiered top off based on the amount spend in 2 months. $250 gets you $1500, $500 gets you $2000 and $750 gets you $3000. I have not received one since.
xheesh - do you have the newer buypower card or the older GM card ?
I have the newer buypower card.
I just signed up for the buy power card. But now I can’t decide if that’s the better way to go since you can’t use it with suppliers or employee discounts. You only get 1% more but you lose on $1000 of dollar getting those discounts plus you could use the gm extend car with those discounts. So wouldn’t that make the gm extended family card better even if you only get 1% instead of 2% from the buy power card?
