So I signed a one pay lease on a chevy equinox ev on thursday which included the $500 GM card sign up rebate. The dealerships sales manager sent me a link to apply for the card on wednesday which I did, got approved and waited until thursday to use the virtual card number to pay for the lease. The salesperson has been texting me back and forth for the past 2 days saying he needs the authorization number for that rebate. I told him I have not recieved anything in my email. I also confirmed with GM card’s customer service that the dealership is supposed to submit a form to recieve that authorization code.
Now the saleperson keeps asking me for that code which i dont have and says his manager will call me to resolve this to prevent me from getting charged that $500 in the mail.
Can they charge me for that $500 based on the dealership not knowing how to redeem that rebate? The contract is already signed and mentions the amount due to me which I paid.
I double checked and I did receive an email with an authorization code that I forwarded to my dealer. I mistakenly stated that I did not in a prior message (since deleted). The email looked like this:
Dear xxxx,
In appreciation of your interest in the My GM Rewards Card or GM Extended Family Card, we are pleased to offer you this chance to enjoy additional savings toward an eligible, new vehicle.
The dealer should know how to redeem the rebate and get the code that they’re asking for. When we redeem the code it generates a code that we use to redeem the rebate. Pretty sure it’s not something that you’re not going to get an email on until the generate the code.
My dealer who is a sales manager is saying the GM card $500 is not avail for the current 2024s and when I look up anything GM card related, they’re saying they accept no new applications because May 2025 they’re releasing a new card probably with some new rewards bonuses. Any ideas?
