In theory it makes sense. But I’m sure we’ll start to hear about sensor malfunctions where the seatbelt is on, but the system doesn’t register it and the car won’t go into drive.
Personally I wouldn’t want this feature but I always put on my belt (except occasionally when moving the car from driveway to garage or vice versa).
Not sure how many injuries are attributable to unbelted drivers in this day and age, so unclear to me how this will actually help anyway.
