Bought an Acadia Denali on Halloween (see below for details). Signed a general bill of sales from the dealership and charged the card for first month and DMV, but didn’t sign the lease agreement yet. Going in on Saturday morning sign the final set of documents and pick up vehicles.
Checked Autobytel to see if the incentives changed and noticed GM Bonus Cash for $2k. You think there’s any way I can get them to add that to our agreement?
Thanks for responding. Just about what I thought but had to ask. The MF and RV also shifted up and down respectively this month so the 2k is somewhat diminished.
Guess I’m happy to at least slide in below the 1% plus a $700 Costco GC.
If you didn’t drive it off the lot it isn’t yours. Certainly doesn’t hurt to ask. Be prepared to sign on your original deal or find a new dealer if they don’t play ball.
Absolutely you have a chance to back out of the deal. You signed a buyers order written on dealership letterhead. You did not sign the “cashable” lease agreement that gets sent to the bank.
For the deposit, most reputable credit card companies will side with you against an unscrupulous dealer that had you sign one piece of paperwork late at night and “return to do the rest of the paperwork” - common tactic used in mgmt to jam in once more car at the end of the month without fulfilling their contractional obligations of a complete deal.
@wakka, I had a similar situation and I returned a vehicle after driving it around for two days. The dealership wasn’t happy, but they couldn’t stop me as I didn’t sign the paperwork. They printed me a check on the spot to reimburse me for the 1st months lease payment applied to my credit card. Good luck.
I think the difference would be about 10 a month. I’m not willing to make a fuss because ultimately I got a deal I was comfortable with, but I’ll definitely try to leverage it and see if I can get something else out if it.
