Opened my car door on my Trax to one of my worst nightmares: the entire door sill covered in ants. Thankfully they are only on the outside of the car (have not gotten into the interior yet) and remain living outside of the car (a lot seem to be in the crevice between the roof rail and roof).
I vacuumed up many of them and washed the car once. I have ant baits set under the hood (not driving it until this fiasco is complete) and have moved the car hundreds of miles from where it originally was (drove from Upstate NY home to NJ).
Does anyone have any other good tips for getting rid of these pests?
Sounds like you have a good handle so far. Maybe get a bottle of the home defense spray from Lowes / HD. Spray it into cracks / crevices to create a barrier to keep them away.
I also did that yesterday with the instant-kill spray to kill a couple hundred that were gathered on plastic trim. I’m worried about its effect on the paint though so I am apprehensive (always caused a few scratches because of the vacuum at the car wash I used)
This actually reminds me of a time many moons ago at work where one of the big shots pulled up to work in a Lincoln. Around 9 or so in the AM, I just happened to look out and saw a small swarm of bees around the car. By noon, the entire front of the car was covered in Bees. He had to call an exterminator or bee keeper (can’t recall which) to remove them so he could go home.
