Yep many new cars on auto, send air to top, bottom and vents. If you set it on manual, and just select the middle vents, it will feel like more air is blowing out.
If you think German AC is weak …
Try British… It’s designed for gloomy weather only. I could barely keep the cabin cool in the Palm Desert…
I’ll never forget the AC and Heat in my first car - a 2008 ford fusion. It took a minute for either to kick in, but once it did, you only got 1 extreme or the other. Even on the lowest AC setting, I felt like I needed a jacket in the middle of summer. The heater was ridiculously hot! I would sweat in my car going to school when it was -10 outside.
I’m looking into possibly a 5 series of E class for my next car, so I’ll definitely make sure to check the climate control before I lease.
I don’t think the dash or the console is Nappa leather, but I was specifically talking about the faux-wood/plastic trim that’s used copiously on the interior surfaces (including prominently on the dash and door panels).
The cover that conceals the cup holders is made of this plastic garbage, and it broke on the way home from the dealership.
German cars just take awhile to get going but they should be nice and cold. Especially the newer cars. Give it a min or two for the engine to run and the compressor to get going.
Happens in my 2018 F30 too… always hot at start up but about a min or 2 later it gets cold and comfy
