Ooophffff. Those down payments, though and the G90 lease.
Doesn’t seem all that awful given how poorly the G70 is leasing in the first place.
Might actually be a better deal than care by Volvo for the g70
The G70 deal I actually better than what people are getting quoted right now walking into a dealer… it also includes the insurance. I would say that’s very competitive. The G80/G90 on the other hand is a different story.
Keep in mind it says “starting at” so I’m sure if you want anything but a base model, you can expect to pay much more.
The G70 should really be a $400/mo car. I don’t know how they’re ever going to break into the market with ridiculous lease numbers like this (not to mention their inventory and distribution issues)
I haven’t seen any lease deals below 500 a month for a base G70. I’m sure they’re out there, but Genesis is having a terrible time right now trying to launch.
I can’t believe they didn’t consider some of these issues. I know they’re not fortune tellers, but some of the issues have launch mistakes written all over it such as not coordinating properly with dealer networks or securing logistics.
How can one price be inclusive of insurance as well, when insurance cost is so variable with so many factors that it’s possible no two people have the same actuarial risk rating?
They’re expecting all lessees to be 55 year old white men with no traffic violations or citations
I believe you’re asking the very exact same question Liberty Mutual was asking when Volvo Care kicked off.
Didn’t Care get held up for several months with initial deliveries because of contract paperwork related to insurance?
I suppose the insurance company would have to be willing to assume some risk with who ever takes the deal.
Might have to disagree. Risky unknowns are not things insurance companies like. I suspect a deep credit check and DR check prevent lots of would be buyers from signing.
I know insurance companies don’t like risk. I believe that’s the snag liberty mutual ran into with Care.
I hope Met Life has a better understanding of how to execute insurance costs in Florida with this leasing program. I can’t imagine insurance costs being terribly low in Florida. Not with a Florida man and Florida woman walking around.
I’m sure they did know, and the fact that they’re proceeding w/ what seems to be a lack of a cohesive plan is not a good sign. Acura, Lexus, and Infiniti did all of this 30+ yrs ago, and the first two were/are pretty successful. It’s not like Hyundai doesn’t have the resources to do the same…
If only they could figure out how to put Genesis Branded Vehicles on lots first…
I want a G70 but not for the price they are asking.
That’s part of what’s so peculiar. I’m not in the car industry, so I have no idea how difficult it is to launch a brand and new dealer network, but it’s not like they’re new to the US market…
