Genesis Leases in Texas

Does anybody here know how well do Genesis’ lease? I’m in the Austin, TX area and the local dealer experience was an absolute disappointment! The sales rep was was just downright flippant when I said we wanted to lease.
Feedback? Thoughts?
Thank you!

Normally, not well. Right now? Really poorly.

Are you asking about a prefacelift 2021 g70 or a brand new 2022 gv70? Big difference in how they lease.

I could grab some numbers off my desk.

Shoot me a PM.

We were looking at the 2022 GV70. Can you elaborate more?

You know that any Brand new Model year like the GV70 is going to lease poorly right?

Genesis tends to lease poorly. Brand new, popular models tend to lease poorly. Everything right now is leasing poorly.

With the GV70 you have the trifecta stacked against you. Take whatever you think this should lease for and double it

Thank you for sharing that. That explains why the few dealerships I contacted were not too keen to talk lease numbers. One dealer though gave me a quote for $1100 a month with an MF of 0.0021. Walked away.

Most cars do not lease well. This is truer now than it has ever been. Which means you cannot start your search with a particular car or cars in mind, and then find a way to make them lease well.

It will be like pushing a boulder uphill while pulling teeth, and you’ll still probably have a bad deal in the end. You need to start your search by filtering only the vehicles that are leasing well right now and offer good value per dollar.

Check out the “Share a Deal” and “Marketplace” sections of LH forums to decide what’s leasing well and pick a vehicle that is already proven to offer good value.

Remember, there are no magic wands that can save a deal from poor programs (RV, MF, and incentives) and/or poor discounts.

Thank you for that perspective and tips. I’ll surely take a look.

There were quite a few nice G70 hacks for MY19 in TX with TC.
Just out of curiosity, checked Edmunds, atm 36/10k, 3.3T is 0.00041/54%/$3000+$1000 conquest. Honestly it’s isn’t bad. Especially with the lower sticker comparing to competitors. It might well be one of the better in the performance performance compact luxury sedan segment.

Are those the programs for the 21 G70?

Yeah, but the conquest info is from Autobytel and used previous months’ information on Edmunds (it exists for lease and stacks), so not 100% sure. Just some preliminary search.

I’m surprised no one hasn’t started hacking them now. Assuming 8% discount, 50k sticker will be under $500 effective before tax. I mean you aren’t getting C43/M340/S4 at this price, plus a $50k RWD G70 3.3T is pretty much loaded…

With that being said I’m not sure if 8% is reasonable but it’s last MY and pre-refresh.

I’ve seen a couple brokers listing decent deals on the 21 G70. The 22 is a huge departure in design language, etc, so it’s not surprising to see the pre-facelift vehicles offer a decent deal opportunity.

Guess I need to double check the marketplace more often lol and yeah I welcome some nice G70 deals.

You’ll want to be patient. Genesis cars went from crazy good hacks in 2015-2016 to absolutely awful in 2020-21. Maybe it’ll be a cycle if materials shortages improve next year. But until then, the numbers look terrible.

I also still think Hyundai are several years away from competing with other luxury brands, though. I wouldn’t lease another Genesis, personally. Not yet.

No, for the 2022 GV70s

The numbers fuzzy posted in the post I was responding to were programs for the 21 g70.

Got it. Sorry for the mix up. Thanks
