NYC based.
I just got my renewal for insurance and it got 2x from my previous bill. I have GEICO which has worked great.
I tried to shop for other companies and I got a message that they can’t offer me a quote.
Any ideas why?
No claims and this is a new lease (6 months).
for example this is the message that i got from progressive:
“We are unable to offer you a policy at this time. The make of one or more vehicle(s) is not acceptable for new business.”
Any recommendations?

If Progressive is turning you down, there is something of significance flagging. Has your credit score crashed? Anyone else on your policy with major claims/incidents? DUI, etc.?
What is your new lease?
Progressive is known to take folks with DUI and other high risks, so if they’re unwilling to take you, that’s very interesting.
What vehicle are you trying to insure? EV?
Progressive is not insuring any luxury makes in NYC, including lexus and similar “luxury”

Similar experience in NYC that progressive is not insuring. Try State Farm, they seem to have given me better rates than GEICO for the past few years.
Geico non-renewed me too with no explanation - was able to switch to Allstate for about $1000/ year less with max limits…
Bizarre. They must want nothing to do with your geography. Might be worth going through non-captive broker in your area to shop rates if all your other insurance metrics are strong.
Someone like this. Fully independent and can shop everyone for you. I’m sure there are others, but this was from a quick search. I’m not affiliated at all with them.
Check out Erie Insurance but you have to go through an independent broker. Generally independent brokers are better as they shop multiple agencies though I’ve noticed lately they don’t always present you the cheapest options (speaking from homeowners coverage).
Surprised to hear companies are restricting personal auto in NYC area, I know that’s happening with commercial auto in some companies.
