GAP Insurance (2024)

Do Hyundai, Mazda, and Toyota leases include GAP insurance? I know Nissan does for sure.

Thanks!

Toyota doesn’t. Different brands have been changing this lately too, so an answer today may not necessarily apply tomorrow.

Also note, that most don’t give gap insurance per say, but a gap waiver. Effectively similar.

Mazda uses TFS so I suspect it doesn’t either.

NY might still be one of those states that requires everyone to include it.

This is the correct response

As others have said, NY state requires all leases to include GAP coverage.

I can’t speak for the other manufacturers, but in NY what Nissan is offering is not GAP insurance, it is a GAP waiver.

If you insure the vehicle to NMAC’s minimum standards and maintain the lease in good standing, they agree to accept a payout from the insurance provider as the fair value of the car, and they waive any GAP difference.

Assuming you stay in good standing with the lease, it’s a meaningless difference, of course.

The old, I’m 3 payments behind, and lets wreck the car for the gap wavier trick? lol

You mean NY state requires all leases to include GAP coverage, correct?
