G87 M2 Buying vs. Leasing advice!

Hey y’all! Could use some advice on this upcoming G87 purchase. Torn between a few options and any insight from this forum is much appreciated!

Option 1: Lease a new ‘25 thats sitting at 8% off msrp, this was my number one option before I started to consider used. Admittedly this one is a dream spec. Selling price after discount is 74,800 (before TTL). Dealership isn’t marking up rate either.

Option 2: Buy a slightly used CPO ‘25 for 66k before TTL, car’s sitting at 13k miles. Had an original sticker of about 72k (about 76k if configured now). This one’s highly specced as well, just missing carbon roof. CPO essentially gives this car 4 years warranty.

Option 3: Buy a 2 year old ‘23 with 8k miles for 62k before TTL.

What’s the best deal here? I can’t get a feel for the market here in SoCal and just want to get the best bang for my buck. If it matters, I was initially leaning lease because I can write a portion off my taxes as I own a business and I tend to get out of cars quickly so liked the flexibility of leasing.

Thanks in advance!

Option 4) Buy a used one near South Carolina, visit the zentrum and tour the factory, visit the roads around there (including tail of the dragon and other hidden gems). Drive home while visiting all the top spots.

Option 4 modified) Buy a F87 M2 competition instead.

The G87s don’t seem to hold their value that strongly, I would go used instead of new. The other option is finding a 21 M4 instead, those seem to be comparable or less than a used G87 M2.

What is the lease payment? You left the most important part out.

I’m going to guess ~$1150 a month.

Why is financing a new car not an option?

You can presumably get the same discount on a new car if you finance or lease it, so buying a used one for 66k doesn’t make much sense when the new one would be 70

You’re not going to track the car or you wouldn’t be asking this question so unless you’re really tall and would benefit from the extra headroom, the carbon roof would be a waste. Saving 40-50 lbs or whatever it is on a 3800 lb car is negligible

There’s a 26 in Illinois that’s p discounted if youre okay with stick.

1210 with tax included (10.5% ouch) and 3k DAS for 7500 miles. Car has a higher sticker of 81k. Discount brings it to 74.8

Is your dream spec worth the extra ~$8000 over the CPO 25? I think the CPO 25 is worth the $4k over the ‘23. So whats left is your heart vs your wallet. Which one wins? Make sure the ‘25 CPO had the 10k mile service and is otherwise in good condition

Damn, $60 off.

Definitely not worth 8k over lol. The ‘25 is honestly great and considering the 4 year warranty I may have to go with it. Thank you all for your input, much appreciated!

How long are you looking to keep the car? I think a manual G87 will hold its value very well over the next decade. It’s pretty surprising that this car even exists now anyway.

I’d personally recommend a purchase, maybe doing a custom build with whoever will give you the best discount. And manual will hold its value better while being the better choice anyway. Even if you only keep the car for 3 years I think you’ll still have a lower TCO than a lease.

I’m getting an auto! I swap out of cars pretty often tbh…but trying to curb that with this purchase lol. Goal is to keep it least 5 years this time!

The number of times I’ve said this and by year 2 I’m going stir crazy.. but best of luck to you in that thought.

What’s the spec? Carbon roof & buckets? Manual? If so, they’re rare as hell & will be worth way more than the residual @ lease-end..

Go with your heart & Option 1. Also, in my experience it is very hard to get a base money rate.

Carbon roof, individual color, every option ticked including alcantara wheel! It’s an auto, seems like they’re holding value better than manuals currently.

wait wut

It’s one of small handful of cars that still offer a manual. Even though the take rate is high for stick (over 50%) and the auto might seem more rare, overall the manual will be the one to put your money on. But if you’re commuting or just don’t want stick I get it. Still a great car either way so you can’t go wrong.

Autos are boring in M cars to me which are crazy overpowered to begin with. Need a clutch to play with.

Yeah it’s going to be a daily for me and I commute from North OC to DTLA so definitely don’t want to do that in a manual lol.

Anywho, I thought I had an answer for myself but here I am still debating between the CPO or the new one lol.

Sports cars suck at being dailies and vice versa
