Weaver said, according to Lindsay employees, these dealerships “advertised ridiculous and impossible prices online” for years, prompting some consumers to travel from out of state, only to learn the price advertised online was unavailable and they would need to pay thousands more.
Just one reason we tell lease hackrs not to negotiate in person.
According to the complaint, 88% of consumers who bought a car from Lindsay’s dealerships between 2020 to 2023 paid, on average, over $2,000 more than the advertised price.

It’s just the latest of several cases brought against dealers this year. On Dec. 19, Leader Automotive Group, with 10 dealerships in Illinois, and parent AutoCanada agreed to pay $20 million to resolve bait-and-switch and other allegations.
Notably, the vote to file the complaint and stipulated final order against Leader Automotive was also 5-0, with the support of Republican Commissioners Melissa Holyoak and Andrew Ferguson.
I got my first XC60 from Lindsay and had a stellar experience. Nothing like what is alleged here. This doesn’t seem to be the case for all of their stores to say the least.
I live down the street from Lindsay Lexus. Cars have been flying out of there this month like toilet paper during Covid. My mother went and test drove a NX there. When she called to negotiate they told her they don’t negotiate over the phone.
