My Mach-E lease is up in about 2 weeks and I’m over the mileage allowance. Usually don’t lease Fords, but I got an exceptionally good deal on it, and I wanted to test out the electric car game. We usually finance our Ford vehicles, and lease other brands like BMW.
Normally I’d try to negotiate the excess mileage as part of getting into another Ford, but I already bought an F-150 Raptor back in April. I needed the truck earlier for trips, and the particular Raptor I wanted was difficult to find, so I bought when the opportunity came up rather than waiting for the Mach-E lease to mature. Ultimately, Ford still retained me as a customer, I just couldn’t time the two transactions together.
I called Ford Credit today to see if there was anything they could do ahead of the return. The rep said their department cannot adjust the mileage charges before turn-in. However, they specifically told me that after I return the Mach-E, I’ll receive the final invoice within roughly 30 days, and that invoice will have a number for a different department that can work with me on the final charges. Obviously, no guarantees on what they’ll actually waive/reduce.
For the Ford dealers/managers or anyone familiar with Ford Credit on here: does anyone know what department she’s referring to and how much discretion they actually have with excess mileage?
Has anyone seen them waive or substantially reduce mileage charges based on loyalty when the customer already purchased their replacement Ford a few months before lease maturity? Anything I should do/document before grounding the Mach-E to give myself the best shot? Any advice would be welcome.
Thank you.
EDIT: For additional context, the Mach-E is otherwise being returned in excellent condition, no damage, no scuffed wheels, and it recently received new tires and brakes. So I’m expecting the excess mileage to be the primary lease-end charge.
