Just joined and already in love with this site!! I wish we had been friends back when I overpaid on an X% lease. My fault there. I am in Orange County, CA and have been leasing all the cars I have driven since the 90’s.
My question is about leasing a new Bronco. The trim levels vary a lot it seems. My nephew wants one and he is not an off roader at all. It seems like the base model is the only chance to get into one for $300.00 max with zero down. My sister is going to lease it and her FICO is 790.
I find full time 4wd could be a mileage challenge, and wonder if a 3 cylinder engine will get the thing moving. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!!!
Yeah Ford is set with the bronco for while. Nothing to do but wait and see when we can snatch one at a decent discount. For the time being it looks like $0 to little discount on those.
I think we can give Ford a little more credit than that
That being said I don’t see a point in half-assing an off-road car and would get an Escape over a Bronco Sport. Full fat Bronco over both of those models obviously. Probably gonna be at least 2 years before those start leasing well at all. Unless we get an electric version…
@jgb92660 if your nephew is talking about a 3 cylinder engine then he is referring to the ‘Bronco Sport’ in the base trim.
There’s the ‘Ford Bronco’ and the ‘Ford Bronco Sport’. The former is the spiritual successor to the original Broncos, and the latter is a ‘soft roader’ that is benefitting from the Bronco name. That’s not to discredit it as a competitive vehicle in its segment, but it’s not the ‘real’ Bronco in most people’s eyes. Kind of like how the Ford Mustang Mach-E isn’t really a Mustang, but someone at Ford is getting paid too much to suggest that they should take their marquee brands and shoehorn them to fit every vehicle.
Regarding mileage, the EPA figures for the 1.3L T Bronco Sport are:
Regular Gasoline26combinedcity/highwayMPG25city28highway3.8 gals/100 miles
You didn’t ask for my 2 cents, but I’ll add it for posterity. Unless he’s getting a good deal on the Bronco Sport already, I’d wait for the hype to die down. Bronco Sport demand will die down when people realize it’s just another soft-roader in all but the top trim (Badlands) and I think Ford will be keen to do deals. The proper Bronco though - I think demand for that will stay buoyant for some time yet because of the uniqueness and pent up demand for a serious Wrangler competitor. I’m definitely considering one as our second car, but will wait at least two years.
