Is your lease through chase or through toyota?
Lease through Toyota
I havenât seen any indication that mazda/TFS has stopped allowing 3rd party buy outs. SETF has, but that doesnât apply.
Interesting. This is from carmax FAQ pageâŚ
âPlease note that CarMax cannot purchase a vehicle currently leased through the following companies: Nissan Motor Acceptance, Infiniti Financial Services, Honda Finance, Southeast Toyota Financial (SETF), GM Financial, Ford Credit, Mazda Credit, World Omni, Volvo Financial, Lincoln Credit, Acura Financial, Hyundai Motor Financial, Kia Motor Finance, Mercedes-Benz Financial and BMW Financial Services.â
This is from Mazda financial webpageâŚ
âMazda Financial Services is a finance brand used by Toyota Motor Credit Corporation (âTMCCâ) to offer retail auto financing and leasing through participating Mazda dealers and TMCC.â
So you are saying SETF is a different company than TMCC though both related to Toyota, and each have different rules regarding the selling of leased vehicles to 3rd parties like carmax et. al.?
SETF is a completely different company that TFS and has no relation to Mazda in any way. With Mazda, its further confused because some are through tfs and some are through chase.
Itâs also important to keep in mind that Carmaxâs policies are not everyone elseâs and do not necessarily reflect the bank being the roadblock.
By all accounts, for example, they wonât work with Hyundai/Kia because they take a long time to release a title, not because they donât allow 3rd party buy outs. Other dealers will work with them.
Carmax may refuse to work with Mazda just because they donât want to deal with the confusion of the different banks.
TFS isnât supposed to sell to third parties, but if you put in enough work, obtain the payoff yourself etc, it can be done.
Update title and first post to reflect $1,800 cash due to you.
