First time leaser. Looking for an affordable hybrid in California

Hello All, first time leasing here so please bear with me.
I’m looking for a hybrid I can afford. Preferably plug in but I’m open-minded, interested in most makes and models just looking for a good deal.

I can afford to put down less than 2K and pay at most 250 a month, I have really good credit and I can get a co-sign.

I just saw the 2017 Kia optima plugin hybrid which is ideal but the best the dealer could do was 285/month, 1900 down before first months pay.

Should also mention I’m a member of USAA, AAA, and LA county Registered nurse

Keep grinding on the Optima, I’ve seen them cheap. Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid should come within your budget. Perhaps 2017 Accord Hybrid, as 2018 hasn’t come out yet but not sure on that one.

You may like the Kia Niro.

Yeah I was really trying to get them down but they wouldn’t budge, might try again next week and mention I’m USAA and LARN see if that helps me out, IIRC Hyundai ioniq was more than the optima, I’ll check out the Accord though thanks

Looks good I should’ve mentioned it while I was at the dealership but what’s the avg mpge on that?

Hard to believe, but they claim 50.

I have a few 2017 prius model 2 in stock.

$2,000 down
$235.63 plus tax

That’s not bad but how much is tax?

Depends on your zip code

91306, didn’t know my zip code affected tax thanks

With $2000 down your payment is $259.73 including tax

Can’t afford to pay that a month, that’s a great deal though, both my mom and brother drive prius its a great car, thanks for the info Cody

dont put anything down, do not negotiate based on monthly payments. Figure out which incentives you qualify for, then negotiate based on msrp (find a loaner, even better) and take it from there.

This website is an encyclopedia, search the forum and read… then rinse and repeat.

Not looking for an i3 due to their low total milage, but that post did help a bit.

Volty Volt got the cheap on lockdown this month.

Welcome. Save the $2k or whatever you have for fees, pocket the rest and work towards the $250 a month range you are comfortable with. Don’t put dollars down towards your payment upfront, there is little to no benefit for you. You are not getting a better deal doing that, your payment goes down only because you are paying off a chunk of your loan ahead of time.

Thanks siejammy that’s what I’m hoping to negotiate. I’ll be looking at Ford Fusion energis and more Kia’s later this week I’m pretty stuck on that optima plug in but now the Kia Niro Is looking ideal with great range and looks roomy

hi @chevysalesgirl,

What are the prices of a 36/15K Volt looking like at your dealership? 0 down or 1500 down. Thank you greatly in advance.
