Absolutely. And for many of them, credit score determines your rates.
Unless you need this car now, which the original posts doesn’t indicate (sounds more like a want/nice to have): spending the next 60 days cleaning up your credit will save you far more money on financing (you probably aren’t a lease candidate) and insurance than any other tip in this post.
Thanks everyone for your comments here, this has been extremely helpful and a bit overwhelming!
I’m supposed to call Paragon back tomorrow, I think my question for them tomorrow is whether we can delete all of the add-on coverages. I don’t plan to make my mind up tomorrow, though.
Meanwhile I PM’d you @HersheySweet to get your thoughts about other ways I could come at this.
It did not occur to me that financing would be a more apt strategy for me than leasing so that’s food for thought.
Dude, I think you didn’t read anything anyone said. DONT GOTO THIS DEALER!!
Some car dealers are nice and honest. Others are shady as fudge. Some, like this one, are borderline scam. Walk away.
Talk to other dealerships if you absolute-fucking-ly need a car right now.
For insurance, goto geico, esurance etc and pull a quote in 5 mins. You can shop for cheaper insurance later, even 2 days after u get the policy. Happy to do a 1-1 PM if you want
Seriously everyone is telling you to run and you still go ahead. Paragon is absolutely worst dealer in Queens. Tactics they use is something from 1980s bad car dealers handbook. Don’t waste your time.
What possible accomodations could they offer to justify the BS they’re pulling. Hell, the whole insurance through their buddy in order to get a quote set up is probably criminal in some states.
This entire thing is nuts and delusional/paranoid and makes my head hurt. You’re justifying over and over paying thousands and thousands of dollars extra for “no contact” this and that? How do you get groceries? How do you go outside? How do you plan to live life?! These people are taking advantage of your fear whether it’s valid or not. Did you ask them about the COVID protection package?!
And it’s always with Hondas. First we have the $9k down Accord, then the $800/mo pilot, now the $20k to lease a base CRV
I seriously don’t understand any of this.
I’m going to go burn some styrofoam in my backyard now.
Here’s the most infuriating part: 99% of uneducated shoppers don’t make it this far (i.e. asking for advice from knowledgable folks). That’s how scummy dealerships like these thrive, by preying on consumer miseducation and fear.
