Finding Mercedes-Benz inventory with specific options?

I’m looking for an EQE 350 or 500 sedan and am keen on certain options: 21" wheels, ventilated front seats, Energizing Air Control Plus w/HEPA Filtration, Acoustic Comfort Package, DIGITAL LIGHT Package, and rear axle steering.

I checked the MBUSA inventory locator, but it doesn’t list all of the options to filter. So I’d be interested if anyone has any advice.

You need to find what’s close to what you want from the MBUSA inventory locator. Then you have to go each dealer and hope they have a window sticker for the one you are looking at.

Then it is just a slog through the dealers and listings.

I see. Would a dealer ever be willing to do a search for me, using their internal inventory tool? Which I imagine is much more robust and extensible than the website. Maybe my local dealer if I would be coming there for service and such.

Yes, but they will likely pressure you to then buy/lease through them on that specific unit shipped in via a dealer trade or want you to do an order. Hard to get a good deal on a dealer trade but not so much for the order if you are willing to wait.

I probably wouldn’t mind waiting for a custom order since I could get exact spec. Although I was under the impression that a car on the lot would pretty much always be discounted higher compared to a custom order?

Whether you get a “deal” on the in stock model or an order all depends on the market, manufacturer, current programs, specific model, dealer, time of year/quarter/month and other factors (as well as the market and incentives when your order comes in).

All you can do is go in and ask, ask a broker here, but also get on the MB forums as well and see what people are doing as well.

If you have a very specific build in mind, you’ll know the MSRP.

From the search results, you can find vehicles that have an MSRP that’s exact/very close, and then copy/paste the VIN into a VIN decoder to be sure.

I haven’t tried this one specifically, but for example: https://www.mbdecoder.com/

Less tedious:

Send your desired build (does MB’s site do build codes? if not, send bulleted list of required packages/options) to a high-volume dealer when you make an offer, and let the dealer sift through their inventory for the right unit(s).

Unfortunately, they do not, at least that was not my experience, and it is annoying, considering the array of options for their vehicles.
