FINALIZED 2018 Audi Q5 Premium Plus NJ Lease

,

UPDATED 11.23, SCROLL BELOW FOR NEW INFO – THIS WAS ORIGINAL POST
Looking for feedback on the below I know this may not be in the format needed on these forums, but this is the most I have without the deal sheet. We ended up at the end of our negotiation session:

2018 Audi q5 premium plus
Sticker: 50,480
36 month/ 7,500 miles per year
Drive off payment: $2,800 (taxes, fees)
Payment: 499 per month

I made the mistake of not asking for a Deal sheet, and regretting it but the last number was thrown at me as I was walking out.

Right before this, we had gotten to 599/month with the following known items:

Negotiated price: 46,000
Residual: 56%
Payment: 599/month

I’m assuming the 100 came from reducing the price further and increasing the residual, but hard to tell. I can glance at the deal sheet when I go in but they told me offer was valid until end of day today.

Thoughts?

Residual is set by the bank, they can’t change it.

Oh, I see. I thought the finance departments did that and were flexible. Thank you.

You may be thinking of money factor, which the finance department can change. The bank sets the buy rate money factor, and the dealership can choose to inflate it by a set amount, and that difference is pure profit.

The finance department doesn’t hold the lease… the captive finance company does

UPDATE
Since I got a lot of help from this forum in researching and eventually bringing this down, I’ll share what I ended up getting done. It is a done deal, but feedback and help would be appreciated. I;d like to learn from this on future leases.

2018 Audi Q5 Premium Plus – Monthly Payment: $499.50/month 36mo/7,500

MSRP: 50,655
Negoiated Price on Order: $44,435.12
Drive Off Payment w/ Rebate: $4226.07 (Includes all fees, taxes and audicare)*Breakdown below
Residual: 57% ($28,873.35)
MF: Do not have this… Edmunds says its .00155

Here is where I’m confused. I paid $4226.07 on my credit card when we drove off. If I add up all the fees, I arrive at: $4,550.64 (a savings to me of $324.57)

All Fees: (First Month: $499 + Taxes 1,408.31+Lease Acquisition fee $895 + Lic/Reg Fee $329.50 + Doc Fee $496 + Sales/Use Tax 7.50 + AudiCare $929.83 w. tax)

The next weird thing was the Price on the order (picture below) doesn’t match the price at the Lease Waiver.

Last Weird thing was I couldn’t emulate this on Lease Hackr Calculator (or even get close since there is no 7,500 option)

Thanks! And hope I am able to help someone else

There is a bit of murkiness going on here. 4K is a very high drive off. I paid $1250 for my 62k S4. Essentially, since you’re not rolling taxes/fees into your lease, you aren’t paying $500 a month. Audicare residualizes meaning that it bumps your residual up a point, so effectively you’re paying $400 over your lease for it (~$12/month) not $850 or whatever it is. In all the 3k extra that was put on your card comes out to be an extra $83/month + interest so your effective payment would have been, with first months and registration up front, fairly close to $600.

What state are you in that they’re charging you tax upfront instead of monthly with your payment?

His drive off isn’t $4k, it’s $2k.

$2250 in Audi rebates are being applied towards the total drive off.

ETA- ok I see that he says he paid that amount on his credit card, which makes no sense because the deal write up shows he should have only paid $1998.

It is New Jersey

I guess in my research I wasn’t entirely sure if the 1% rule should include the taxes rolled in. I paid it up front because I didn’t see why I should pay a finance charge on an already 6.625% tax rate in NJ. Wasn’t sure if that was the right move or not. . .
