Finacial Guru appalled at Young Adult’s Car Payment

Thank goodness I never got into the sugary caffeine drinks. During grad school I was an 8 cup of coffee a day guy…now I’m down to a much more reasonable 3 or 4. Black coffee, too, so even cheaper - though I don’t get super cheap coffee anymore. I can’t imagine how many energy drinks a day I would have needed.

8 cups of Arabic = 800 mg. Bang has 300/can, 3 cans a day.

@wam22 peach reign isn’t bad, mango is good too.

@Bostoncarconcierge I’ll drink gasoline when I’m a car.

The good thing is newer drinks do not have sugar. Bang has 0g of sugar, which is why I drink it over Red Bull or Monster (apart from preferring the taste of Bang). I am not drinking a lot (maybe 1 a week, 2 on a heavy week) and I hate coffee.

Monster has 0 sugar variants, I drank one earlier.

It might not have sugar, but it probably has a sugar substitute which is worse for long term health compared to real sugar.

While I can be a coffee snob, I don’t typically buy coffee outside vs making myself. Even moreso now during quarantine/WFH. I typically have a cup or two of french press a day and maybe an additional cup of decaf espresso (courtesy of my Nespresso machine). I add milk, but not sugar. Other than something specialty (cappuccino, etc), I haven’t added sugar to coffee in over a decade.

I’m glad I never really got into energy drinks, though I did use to drink quite a bit of soda (now mostly sparkling water - hard to kick carbonation altogether!)

Let’s be real, all energy drinks are not good for you

Speaking of coffee, one of the brokers here roasts his own coffee and it is tremendous.

He may hunt me down for sharing this, so I won’t say who without his permission.

He sent me the Santos Hazelnut and Sumatra. Both so good.

I spend a solid $180 / month on energy drinks and candy at the gas station next to my store. It’s an investment though, massive amounts of caffeine is basically the automotive industries version of performance enhancing drugs.

She regrets buying the car and I dont blame her. Looks like it’s a 430 or 440 with msport package. Her monthly payments are $720 so at 72 months that’s $51,840. She said she still has about $33k left on the loan. So its probably a 430 with msport.
So much money to pay to be stuck with a 430 when you’re done.

OUCH! I’m at $270+tax for my 440 Msport coupe (new) after MSD thanks to @nyclife and I make >300k/yr lol. Have half a mil in student loans tho

Sounds like medicine or dentistry.

Yup. Living the dream  (definitely do not recommend anyone become a doctor nowadays unless it is truly a passion. just not worth it the way it is structured in America where you see your hard work earned money go to the suits and all the benefits go to nurses and none to docs)

@mahdego I disagree. $500k in student loan debt to make $350k+ per year guaranteed is still a great deal. You should try and pay off that debt as soon as possible and with that income you can. Also of course it depends on your specialty. The average package for an anesthesiologist right now is 45-50 hrs per week, $450k+ plus full benefits, 6-9 weeks vacation. What job is better than that? Not much.

But all that being said you should never go into medicine for the money, you should never do anything in your life “just for the money.” I’m a “suit” in healthcare FYI.

Does it also come with white packs of “sugar”?
