Is the money factor negotiable? or is it a given depending on manufacturer? Any other feedback on the residual? seems a bit high to me? Other thoughts/comments?
Not familiar with these leases, but from first glance, you’re not passing the 1% rule. What’s getting you is the low residual, even with the rebates and discounts. You’re in BMW i3 territory with this monthly payment (assuming your goal is to get an electric car).
MF usually isn’t negotiable unless it is marked up by the dealer. Residual definitely isn’t negotiable. Try finding out what other people have been getting in your area. It might make sense to work with an out-of-state dealer.
MF and residuals are things you generally can’t change, and unfortunately the residuals on the Leaf are pretty bad. Only way to counteract that horrendous residual is if Nissan throws in more incentives, which they don’t seem keen on doing yet.
Thats what i am slowly realizing… called a dealership in NJ I used for my last purchase. their residuals are even worse… 31% on 36m and 39 on 24m. The FL dealership gave me 43 for 24m… Yea, its a no go situation… Wrapping it up… Let me go see where GM is at with the Bolt these days
I’ve been eyeing the Leaf recently and it seems like it makes more sense to buy right now (SoCal). Will have to see if incentives and dealer discount are better as we get closer to the release of the longer range 2019 Leaf.
Just saw a Leaf SV with tech package in Hayward Nissan (norcal). $2500 down, $249 a month but it requires loyalty ($2000). I just turned in my lease 3 weeks ago so I don’t qualify anymore but it is the lowest payment I’ve seen.
The federal tax rebate is probably included in your $9000. But if you lease for more than 30 months in CA, you will get a check for $2500 (CVRP rebate) plus whatever local rebates you qualified for (PG&E, etc.)
I had just enquired into leasing from a dealer based on Costco pricing and they had given me numbers of $3000 down and $250 without any negotiation. These did not include any loyalty credit. The numbers for Nissan are high due to a higher MF rate now and the low RV.
They were giving $2000-3000 credit if you were buying the car. What I was told was essentially the price on 0% financing would be about 24k for LEAF SV with all rebates on MSRP. Add the federal credit and CVRP and you are essentially getting an SV model car for 14500 or less.
That’s good to know, thanks for the info. Incidentally, the one I mentioned from Hayward is SV with tech package ($2200). The high MF and low RV probably won’t change, but they will discount more from here on out waiting for 2019 model, but that of course, only last if they have inventory.
Monthly payment of 422 seems too high to me. Any idea on what/how can I negotiate with the dealer on this. Is this the price going around ? In the past my friends have leased Nissan Leaf for less than 300 per month
I’m also shopping for Leaf lease in NoCal. It seemed that price was higher than prior two months. I was unable to get a deal similar to what my friend locked two months ago due to lower inventory.
The best I can get is $4000 down $220/month for Leaf S 12K miles. I’m going to check further.
The values on the auctions seem high. The 17s I have seen for sale have been 15-17k retail. The 18s do look better and have better range.
The residual the dealer quoted me the other day was 38pct.
The factory cars can be “punched” as a new car thus carry all of the rebates, money factor and Fed Tax credits. These are really highly sought after by the dealers, the 2 non-dealer sale prices on 8/28 and 8/21 are either dealers/wholesalers who had a retail buyer in tow and the RB got auction fever or they have a buyer that made the classic “but MMR says its on the money” mistake. If you can ever get one of these factory cars they lease out super cheap BMW is famous for this their factory lane closed lease cars are screaming deals. I am actually trying to find one of these now and hope one of the brokers on here can source one for me as I am no longer a wholesaler (left a few years ago).
