Hi all - I am in the midst of negotiating a Grand Cherokee 4xe. My company qualifies for Affiliate Rewards which is invoice minus 1% before applicable incentives.
My pre-incentive price to the dealer was approx 5-6% below invoice, thinking of course that since they would be reimbursed for the AR pricing through Stellantis that there was additional room for negotiation. The sales manager implied he would be eating all the loss between the AR pricing and my proposed pricing and there was no further room for negotiation.
Has anyone had success in negotiating a price lower than the AR program allows? Can anyone help me understand the dealer’s position (how are they reimbursed for AR program participation, etc.)?
Many thanks folks - this forum is an invaluable resource.
Don’t worry about if they get reimbursed or not. If they have not accepted your offer move to the next one. When you make your offer make sure to tell them you have affiliate.
Yes, 500+ people have gotten better pricing then invoice minus 1 on the forum.
Can you provide more detail on the specific trim and where you are located? The incentives vary by trim and location. I would be shooting for 10% off MSRP for a 2024 at this time of year.
Appreciate the response - it’s a Summit 4xe with a $79585 MSRP. I told them I would sign on the spot for $71627 (-10%) plus incentives (totaling $11,400). I’m in Raleigh, NC.
They countered firm at $74xxx before incentives. The claim was this price was the Affiliate Rewards price and that they would be eating the ~$3000 difference between their AR price and my proposed price. Thus, no further room for negotiation and no deal.
And to think I wasn’t even making a fuss about their ridiculous $900 doc fee…
So you are $3K apart. It looks like the 36 month/10K miles is the sweet spot for Stellantis leases right now. There is also a 27 month option that looks good as well. If it is the vehicle she wants, I think you bite the bullet and make her happy!
I just have to believe the incentives are going to get better in earl 2025 if you can hold off. there are many, many, many 2024s still on lots, but it sounds like you have a specific one you are after.
I got 16k ( between price reduction and rebates) off a GC Trailhawk 4XE without any affiliate perks. MSRP was 71k. And I know all brands and vehicles have issues, but I cannot get out of this thing fast enough. Even without the battery issues happening for the 21-23 models, the quality, Jeep dealer service, and overall support experience do not match the price point. When I go in for my 8th recall service in a year and a half after Christmas, after the vehicle sat outside and wasn’t charged for the last two months per the most recent recall, they will also be addressing my newest issues which are intermittent lack of heat and what sounds like will be a sway bar replacement. Nearly every recall service, they’ve had to fix something else. If you move forward, I wish you better luck!
A dealer that wont do 6% off with or without affiliate is a waste of your time. You’re wasting your time trying to make affiliate work here as the deal sucks even with it.
I feel you. I had a 2022 Base model. I have never had a car with so many problems and so little dealer/manufacture support. I dumped it after two months, lost about $500 and have been happy with my cars/service/lack of headache ever since.
Really appreciate the feedback, folks. Called around today to other dealers that happened to be open on Sunday and had a similar spec 4xe in stock, but wasn’t able to make progress (car sold or can’t do out of state leasing).
Plan to counteroffer the original dealer tomorrow and if he still won’t move, I’ll wish him luck and move on myself. We aren’t in a pinch for a new car but were hoping that this time of year would yield the most fruit on a 2024 hybrid.
Definitely hear the concerns about reliability, which is also giving me some pause.
